Prince Edward County Jazz Festival

Prince Edward County Jazz Festival Truly great jazz, in a country setting, a few hours (and a world) away from Toronto, Ottawa & Montreal.

Not only do we present jazz stars on stage — top names that you would expect — but we present them in a very special place: The County. You may know Prince Edward County — in which case you have felt its charms — but if you don't, you have to come here to fully appreciate the soft, carefree atmosphere of the place.

PEC Jazz Festival 2026 - Shuffle On - Forty Years of Demonic Possession!

Great article from long-time supporter of the Jazz Festival, the local Picton Gazette and Chris Fanning - writer, photographer and editor extraordinaire.

As he retells with some real pride, the story follows now generations of Fannings over 40 years from Toronto to Prince Edward County "....bopping, rapping, and Shuffling, keeping us young forever." - a quest to have his entire family experience the joy that is the Demons, that he thought might have come to an end when he moved here from Toronto.

"...But who knew the power of the PEC Jazz Festival?..."

Indeed Chris - and they did more "..bopping, rapping, and Shuffling..." again this year delighting a packed crowd opening our Festival at Huff Estates.

PEC Jazz Festival 2026 - Thank you from the PEC Jazz Festival Team!

We spend 51 weeks planning the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival, and then it all flies by in 6 crazy, music-filled days. What a great week it was!

We are so thankful for the amazing support from our audience. Almost every show sold out this year, making for a phenomenal experience for the performers and the audience alike. In fact, one show sold out 3 times as we kept adding more seats.

And a heartfelt thank you to our Sponsors, the fabulous venues, the brilliant musicians, our Satellite Stage partners and our amazing team of volunteers. And to you - jazz lovers from both near and far!

Check out our home page at pecjazz.org to see a few images from the week to remind us of all that we shared.

Main Stage, Satellites, After Hours, Workshops… All totalled, 26 performances over 6 days. We are sincerely grateful for all of the support, enthusiasm and encouragement that we received from everyone. Let's do it again next year!

PEC Jazz Festival 2026 - Closing Main Stage Event - Irene Torres

The final evening Main Stage Event was a packed out and steamy house of global jazz lovers to see the inimtable Irene Torres at The Waring House Hall.

Born in Lima, Peru, Torres moved to Canada with her family as refugees when she was six years old. That's what Canada does! Welcome all and we're better for it. Now a proud Canadian citizen, she is an established member of Toronto's diverse music scene.

Playing many songs from her latest project, "Travesía," translating to 'voyage', she featured traditional Peruvian instrumentation and personal storytelling, showcasing her growth as an artist and her dedication to her cultural roots. The room couldn't get enough of her!! Although we all wish part of her merch, including her latest album on CD , had included her signature fan! It was hot and humid in there - and we don't mean just the music!!

That's a wrap - what an amazing 2026 Festival - more posts as photos and videos continue to come in!

PEC Jazz Festival - Final Days!

Some more hot and hopping free Satellite events for the PEC Jazz Festival!

Four decades of traditional jazz from Toronto's most enduring classic jazz ensemble, turning heads at festivals, clubs, weddings and private functions since 1984! Yep - the final day afternoon events kicked off with the trad jazz of the Dixie Demons at Huff Estates, as the sultry jazz singing of the Lenni Stewart Trio also got things going at downtown Picton's main street Vic Social.

Another beautiful day - that's an entire Festival of sunshine for as long as we can remember - with two more packed houses. So great to see!!

PEC Jazz Festival 2026 - Main Stage - Day Five - Emilie-Claire Barlow

An all-time PEC Jazz Festival favourite Emilie-Claire Barlow, closed out Saturday night at our Main Stage Concert with our great friends and Picton institution, The Regent Theatre.

Emilie-Claire Barlow is one of the most respected and distinctive voices on the Canadian jazz scene. A singer, arranger, producer, and voice actor, she has been building an acclaimed career for over 25 years, both in Canada and internationally. Winner of a Félix Award and two JUNO Awards, Barlow has amassed over 500 million online streams and has performed concerts all over the world.

In front of a jam-packed house she featured songs from her latest album La Plus Belle saison, her 15th album; along with jazz standards and originals.

It was a can't-miss evening - next up for Emilie-Claire, a concert in nearby Port Hope Aigust 21st, in case you missed her here or would just love to see her again. And who wouldn't!!

More hot hot hot, but beautiful, weather, venues and jazz; throughout all of Saturday August 15th - Day Five at our many Satellite events.

The Spencer and Oscar Evans Trio got the evening going before the Main Stage event at the ever cozy Barley Room Pub at The Waring House. Guitar and trumpet?
"Hey man, I can play whaever I have in my van and that van is LOADED!"

And wraping up the evening another Festival tradition - After Hours - for those who just don't want the evening to end. Our good friends The Regent Theatre turn the Loft into a late nite club - this year with Gord Sheard, Paco Luviano and Richard Bannard, including a guest stand in with Brian Legere.

Still one more day of great jazz to come.

More hot hot hot, but beautiful, weather, venues and jazz; throughout all of Saturday August 15th - Day Five at our many Satellite events.

Hannah Barstow and Duncan Hopkins kicked things off at our traditional Glenwood Cemetery morning event. Unlike the usual sounds of people nattering while ordering food, and plates crashing at late night City club venues - the sublime jazz here was accomanied only by the sounds of birds! And the occasional polite cough! It's a Jazz in the County thing!

Aaron Nash and Chrystelle Maechler at Exultant and The Paco Luviano Trio at Stanners Winery, gave 2026 Festival visitors a great reason to time their tastings' visits with some great jazz!

Still one more day of great jazz to come.
