✨ Meet the artist behind this year’s Picton Holiday Night Market artwork - a familiar face to many of us - Susan Smythe-Bishop 🎨✨

After a career in Toronto’s film industry, Susan and her husband Tim made Picton home nine years ago. With a background in fine arts and graphic design, Susan has found her creative home here, creating joyful illustrations and portraits that celebrate the remarkable people who make our community what it is. ❤️

We’re thrilled to have her bringing this year’s Holiday Night Market artwork to life — a tribute to the people, businesses, artists and entrepreneurs who make Picton so special.

Meet Freddy! 🐾💛 Our latest Pets in Picton Spotlight is this adorable 5-year-old Cavapoo, who doubles as beloved family member and official shop greeter at Zest Kitchen Shop.

Freddy takes his greeting duties very seriously… although there may be the occasional nap on the job. 😉 When he’s off duty, you can find him enjoying his favourite spot, Benson Park, or proudly carrying around his beloved stuffed croissant. 🥐🐶

He’s also convinced that every delivery person has a treat just for him (honestly, we admire the optimism!). And when it comes to friends, Freddy’s neighbourhood crew includes Boomer, Luna and Oliver. 🐕❤️

Meet the people behind The Golf Studio ⛳️✨

What started as a golf-focused space has become a little piece of Picton’s community — owned by four friends: Matt Hryhorsky and his wife, Laura, along with Bil Heffernan (who grew up here) and Junko Kishi (who was born in Japan).

Last summer, the group took an even bigger step and purchased the entire building, becoming landlords to the wonderful tenants who call it home, while also running the attached Airbnb, The Urban Cabin.
Four people, different backgrounds, one shared love for Picton — and a pretty special space built around their passion for golf. 🤍

There’s a reason creativity feels woven into the fabric of the PEC. 🎨✨ In fact, the County has the highest concentration of artists in Ontario and the 7th-highest in all of Canada - a remarkable community of makers, artists and craftspeople creating everything from fine art to functional objects.
