The Prince Edward County Arts Council Our mission is to enrich the community by actively supporting and promoting the arts and artists as an essential part of life in Prince Edward County.

Celebrating 40 years in 2026. We work to fulfill our mission by:
-Connecting artists to audiences through our signature events and programs, including Art in the County, PEC Arts Trail, PEC Studio Tour, and The Maker’s Hand;
-Promoting the arts and artists through Artscene newsletter, Artscene on Air radio show, What’s On event listing, and Member Profiles on countyarts.ca;
-Supporting artists’ ca

reer development through our Artist Fund grants, Indigenous Voices Fund, and Student Arts Award, and by creating teaching and workshop facilitation opportunities at the County Arts Lab;
-Increasing access to the social and health benefits of arts participation through our community-focused programming – County Arts Lab, Art Together, Artists in the Community, and more;
-Incubating new arts events and initiatives, from the PEC Jazz Festival to County Kids Read and more, as they work towards independent charitable status; and
-Working collaboratively with those who share a common interest in leveraging the arts for the economic and social development of Prince Edward County. County Arts will delete or hide from public view comments/content appearing on our social media posts that contain any of the following, and reserves the right to ban the commenter from County Arts pages:
-Hate speech
-Profanity, obscenity or vulgarity
-Defamation of a person or people
-Name calling and/or personal attacks
-Comments from non-members whose main purpose is to sell a product
-Comments that infringe on copyrights
-Spam comments, such as the same comment posted repeatedly
-Any comments or images that County Arts deems inappropriate and/or that contravene community standards, our values, and/or the content of our Inclusivity, Diversity & Equity Policy

✍️ Calling all writers! Do you struggle to focus on and complete your writing projects? Our FREE Silent Writing Circles and get the time, space, accountability, and structure you need to bring your projects to fruition - or just start writing!

💫 This program is for writers of all kinds - new, emerging, established, all genres... all community members 18+ are welcome.

❓During the session, our friendly volunteer facilitator Dominic will kick things off with a welcome and introductions. He will inform participants of the structure of the session, including concentrated writing periods and short breaks. Prompts to get the creative juices flowing will be provided for anyone who needs/wants them.

📅 Our first session of the season is Friday, September 18th from 10:30 am-12 pm! 4 sessions (with more to be announced soon) will be taking place this fall on alternating Friday mornings from 10:30 am-12 pm and Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8 pm. Meet Julie! Julie Seddon is a Canadian painter, relocated from Toronto to Prince Edward County. Since graduating from York University fine arts in 1991, she has consistently painted and exhibited in and around the Toronto Area. For over 20 years she focused on figurative painting, and the last decade has seen a departure to non-figurative abstraction.

On this week's Artscene, Ted Pickering of SHED Chetwyn Farms and Pam Mayhew of The Grapevine here on 99.3 County FM switch seats!

Tune in as Ted interviews Pam about her experience being a landscape painter, her inspiration, and past histories that have shaped who she is.

They also talk about Pamela's exhibition, 'Autumn Reimagined: In the Spirit of the Group of Seven,' opening today, September 4th (reception 5-7 pm) at SHED Studio, along with an upcoming workshop on September 20th.

We think Ted is quite entertaining... let's see how he does!
