Kin Canada is the nation's largest all-Canadian service club organization.
We call Benson Hall at 56 King St. Picton our home (Kin Hall). We have completed several small renovations to the facility, kitchen upgrades, members lounge, bathrooms and dining hall.
We currently have 23 members ranging in age from 45 to 75 from all walks of life.
We get together on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month (except July and August) to enjoy a home-cooked meal, some fellowship and of course run the business of the club. Each meeting we plan our fundraising efforts, decide where and to whom we donate the funds we’ve raised and have a little social time all the while helping to make our community a better place to live, work and play.
Our club was chartered over 70 years ago, May 1944.
We raise funds through many events throughout the year but are probably best known for our Thursday night bingo broadcast on the local cable channel, which has been on the air for over 30 years.
We host an annual charity auction, charity golf tournament, electronics recycling events and 4 to 6 charity BBQ’s each summer and new this year a 50’s rock & roll concert at the Picton arena.
We have raised and donated back to our community over $100, 000 in the past 5 years.
We recently donated $10, 000 to Hospice Prince Edward, the largest single contribution in our clubs history.
Each year we support many youth sports teams and activities, local theatre groups, parade committees, charitable organizations, our hospital foundation, individuals and family members in times of need.
We raise our funds in The County with over 90% of those funds staying in The County.
Our partnership with The County of Prince Edward allows us to have a home while ensuring that an important heritage property remains viable and does not fall into disrepair or remain un-occupied. We support a national bursary, a local bursary and we support a Kin Kids Scholarship fund to assist children and grandchildren of members with the high cost of post-secondary education.
Nationally our organization has contributed over $40 million to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. We support a National Disaster Fund, Portraits of Honour commemorating our fallen soldiers in Afghanistan and more recently the 49th Parallel Fund supporting the needs of family members of wounded and fallen soldiers.
We also host a wide variety of social events year round for our members, their friends and family.
