❤️ Seeing the impact. Hearing the stories. Understanding the difference your support makes.

Yesterday, Women United members took part in a Seeing Is Believing Tour, visiting three local agencies supported by United Way KFL&A to see firsthand how community investments are making a difference.

The tour included visits to:
🏠 Kingston Interval House – Learning about emergency shelter and transitional housing supporting women and children experiencing violence.
🏠 Kingston Home Base Non-Profit Housing Inc – Exploring housing supports, emergency shelter and outreach programs helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
💜 One Roof Youth Wellness Hub – Seeing how youth-focused programs, supportive housing and wraparound services help young people access the support they need to thrive.

Each stop offered an opportunity to hear directly from the people behind these essential programs and better understand the challenges facing individuals and families across KFL&A.

A special thank you to Anna Mouw-Voskamp and Koven Lifestyle Real Estate for sponsoring the afternoon and helping make the tour possible, and to McCoy Bus Service & Getaways for sponsoring transportation. Thank you to the teams at all three agencies for welcoming Women United and sharing their important work.

With more than 500 active Women United members across KFL&A, collective generosity is helping strengthen local programs and create meaningful change.

Because when women come together, they help change our tomorrow, today. ❤️

🧥 A warm coat can make all the difference. This year, the need is greater than ever. ❤️
As temperatures continue to drop, more individuals and families across KFL&A are counting on community support to stay warm this winter.

Coats for Community is collecting donations until November 16, 2026, and there's still time to make a difference!

For some, purchasing a winter coat simply isn't affordable. A coat that is no longer needed in one household could mean warmth, comfort and dignity for someone else.
Last year, our community donated more than 1,300 coats and warm clothing items. With growing demand this year, that support matters more than ever.

🧥 Here's how you can help:
➡️ Donate clean, new or gently used adult winter coats and outerwear in good condition.
➡️ Coats must be washable (no leather or heavy wool).
➡️ Drop off donations at participating locations across KFL&A.
➡️ Make a monetary donation online or in person at the United Way KFL&A office to help purchase coats of all sizes and fill the gaps.
Every donated coat is sorted by volunteers and distributed to agencies throughout KFL&A to reach people who need it most.

❤️ Have a coat to spare? Please consider donating it. If you're unable to drop off a coat, a monetary contribution can make a difference too.
📅 Donations accepted until November 16, 2026.

📍 Find drop-off locations and donate online: https://www.unitedwaykfla.ca/news/coats2026/

A warmer community starts with people looking out for one another. Let's make sure no one has to face winter without a warm coat. ❤️

Yesterday, Sarika stepped away from the camera and computer to take part in Indigenous, Black and Racialized Career Day with the Limestone District School Board!

As part of a student-led panel discussion, Sarika shared her personal journey, educational background and career path to United Way KFL&A. She also answered questions from students in Grades 9 -12 about exploring different career pathways, the importance of representation and belonging, navigating challenges and finding the support needed to succeed.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with students, share experiences and encourage conversations about the many paths that can lead to a fulfilling career.

A big thank you to Andrea and the Limestone District School Board for organizing this meaningful event and inviting United Way KFL&A to participate, as well as to the other panelists for sharing their experiences and insights!
