We were invited to the Inverary Firefighter Assoc. Fellowship Evening at the South Frontenac Fire Rescue station in Inverary last week!

The firefighters were wonderful hosts and showed us around all their fun (and important) equipment and thanked us for our support of their search and rescue chest packs through our Community Outreach Grants this spring.

More photos to come!

Each year The Rotary Club of Kingston recognizes 6 individuals with Paul Harris Fellows for demonstrating exemplary models of Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self” in our Community Service Awards.

Congratulations to 2026 recipient Andre Soucy!

Andre’s interest in supporting his community is well established. Over the years he has volunteered with a number organizations including Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs, Almost Home Kingston, MS Canada, and Kingston Humane Society. Since joining Rotary in 2022 he has expanded his volunteer efforts significantly.

You will often find Andre hard at work at charitable events, usually behind the scenes. He has worked on fundraising activities for Easter Seals Ontario at their annual regatta, curling bonspiel and golf tournament. He has supported the The Inclusive Play Project Fun Fair and Back to the Farm events. And he has supported Rotary fundraising activities including the biennial Gala and our Cash Calendar.

Andre has become a key member of our technology team that supports our hybrid meeting structure. Trying to sort out the challenge of connecting both online and in person participants at our meetings is enough to make you want to pull out your hair. Somehow Andre does it all with a smile (or is that a grimace).

But as much as he does at fundraisers and meetings, he is indispensable as our Assistant Treasurer. Joining the Finance Team he has re-vamped our procedures and simplified the way we record and pay our bills. This is no easy task given the number of fundraisers we hold and the various organizations to whom we provide grants and support.

Always willing, always there, Andre is a valued member of our club.

New member Jeanette headed to Revelstoke Rotary Club where she was their guest speaker and shared her experiences as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. While there she exchanged banners with what we can only assume is the world's tallest Rotary Club president.

Rotary Club of Kingston would like to announce our newest member, Laura Turner.

Laura grew up in a family where volunteering was a way of life. Her mother, Isabel, served as Reeve of Kingston Township and later Mayor. Her father also volunteered constantly, and Laura has tired to pass the same mindset to her own children.

Laura’s career has spanned pharmaceutical sales, software sales, public relations, artificial intelligence consulting, politics, economic development, and marketing. Highlights include a term as Kingston City Councillor and Interim CEO of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce. Now Laura is Real Estate Agent at
KW Inspire Realty Brokerage, Ontario Canada. But the one thing that has been consistent through every stage of her life is community involvement and helping people.

Welcome, Laura!

Breast Cancer Action Kingston is a registered charity dedicated to breast cancer previvors, survivors, and thrivers by providing emotional, physical, and financial support and increasing awareness in Kingston and South Eastern Ontario.

They are a 2026 Community Outreach Grant recipient of $2,500. The grant will support creation of Family Spaces for Parents & Children of breast cancer patients due to the increase in the number of women accessing their services resulting from the lowered screening age. They will purchase equipment for their gym, games for the clients' children, as well as art supplies.

Dr. Heather White received the ceremonial cheque from Rotary Club of Kingston President Mark Siemons.

Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club held their 7th annual Kingston Waters Cleanup this weekend at Crawford Wharf! Rotarians took to the high seas and fully suited-up divers scoured the bottom and recovered, weighed and disposed of anything that didn't belong. Way to go, friends!
