Street Health Centre

Street Health Centre A multi-service healthcare model providing medical, social, mental health, and treatment services. (613) 549-1440

The Street Health Centre is a 365 days a year harm reduction health centre. We specialize in providing accessible, responsive, health services to communities that are marginalized from mainstream healthcare services. Street Health began as a needle exchange program in 1992 and has since evolved into a one stop shopping model, providing multiple health, disease prevention, primary care, and treatme

nt services. Street Health has several priority populations including: people who use injection, inhalant, and illicit drugs, those involved in the s*x trade, high-risk youth, the homeless, and people recently released from incarceration. Street Health’s services are open to all members of the community. Our staff consists of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, doctors, counsellors, an Indigenous elder, support workers and administrative personnel. Extended hours for outreach are offered at regular times throughout the week. Counsellors with Street Health Centre are able to work with people on a variety of issues, including basic needs, referrals, life skills, support and personalized counselling on issues related to drug use, addictions, s*xual health, mental health, Hepatitis C, smoking cessation, pregnancy / child protection issues complicated by substance abuse and practical needs. Outreach is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM through the Street health van. Outreach may also be requested during weekday hours by phoning our clinic. Additionally, we recover and receive used needles at our site through outreach. If you find a used syringe on the street, in a park or otherwise unsafely disposed of, give us a call.
