Congratulations to our Graduates! Here is a snippet from my speech at the awards gala. “To an adult, ten years means more grey hairs and a few more wrinkles. But when you’re eight years old and then we blink and suddenly you’re eighteen, that’s a whole lot of growing up that I have been incredibly privileged to witness.
I remember Hannah and Kendra cheering with their matching blue hair. I remember Abby flying a knee-base stunt while missing a few teeth. I remember renaming Emily to Tina at the ripe old age of nine because there were simply too many Emilys and I couldn’t keep them all straight.
Then there are Autumn, Peyton, and Luke, who took a chance as teenagers—not only trying a brand-new sport, but stepping onto an established team and never missing a beat.
Over the years, I’ve seen and heard it all. I’ve watched bent-legged first cartwheels. I’ve listened to conversations about which boys or girls you liked. I’ve heard about the teachers who gave the most homework. And now, somehow, we’re talking about university applications, career plans, and the future. I could not be more proud of all of your hard work. We can’t wait to see where the future takes you”
