💚Time and time again our clients bring up the outstanding quality and the commitment to care by the catering team at Concierge Catering.🍽️

And it’s no wonder! ✨

🥣2,500 meals a month, and each one is prepared to the exacting standards of Chef Rob MacIsaac. We like to change things up every few months and one of our biggest challenges is trying to keep everyone’s favourite on the menu! 😊

🩷Following in her mother’s footsteps👣, Margaret has been a Halifax Meals on Wheels volunteer since June 2025.

The happiness that this brought to her mother is reflected in Margaret’s response of “Joy💫” being the one word to best describe her volunteer experience with us.

Margaret tells us that there are to many positive moments and interactions with her clients, and that it is impossible to define just one. For her the impact goes far beyond simply delivering meals. It is rooted in the special relationships that develop between the volunteers and clients. She states that “It is a privilege to become a small part of their lives.”🩵

Food insecurity in our community keeps growing, but together we can make a huge difference! Communities taking care of each other is a vital component in building the kind of city we all want to live in.

For over 50 years Halifax Meals on Wheels has been providing meals to some of our most vulnerable residents, and we need your help to continue that work!

Each donation counts, and together we can work towards building a healthier community for all.

There are many ways to give and to have a positive impact on so many lives. You can choose a one-time donation, become a monthly donor, leave a legacy, or donate in someone’s honour.

Meet Colleen!

In between writing plays, directing, acting, touring, running a theatre company, sitting on boards, advocating for social justice and equality, and raising a family, for over two years Colleen has been assisting us with our Friday meal delivery program. This initiative distributes food to some of the most food and housing insecure residents in our area.

Due to career and family commitments this summer, they’ll be taking some well-deserved time off, so we’re looking for a relief driver!

The route consists of 2 or 3 stops each Friday and distributes 50-60 meals a week. The time commitment is about 90 minutes!

Community, caring and compassion are the driving forces behind their commitment to our mission. The biggest reward is the smiles and joy that every delivery brings!

Battling food insecurity one meal at a time!

Increasingly more Nova Scotians are struggling to feed themselves. Food insecurity continues to grow at an alarming rate and here at Halifax Meals on Wheels we are striving to provide more meals and more food to more people.

In 2023 the board of HMoW implemented the Community Investment Fund, which provides meals to several charitable organizations whose clients are facing chronic food insecurity.

Here’s what the people at Shelter Nova Scotia have to say:
“We are incredibly grateful to Meals on Wheels for your on-going donations to The Rebuilding! The largest barrier tenants face in our facility is food insecurity. Your meals have allowed us to provide nutritious options to folks who do not always have access. They are always delicious and with variety. Our tenants always look forward to your meals and know who you are! Thank you so much for your continued support at The Rebuilding. These meals have made a huge difference for our tenants.”

Although Ross hasn’t been volunteering with us for long, his motivation and experiences mirrors those of our many of our other volunteers! His regular Thursday run starts with a short meet with his delivery partner Tasia to catch up, map out their route and start delivering meals.

Then they’re off!

Ross loves meeting and talking to his clients and loves the feeling of brightening their days. He indicates that it’s the people that keep him coming back. Chatting with them, hearing how their doing, having a positive impact on their days is a rewarding and wholesome experience.

“Happiness comes from community, and being part of a great community brings happiness!” You can be the richest person in the world, but without community you’re always missing something”
