Dalhousie Student Union The DSU is here because of you. Our activities fall under four main categories:

Advocacy - Uniting our collective voices, speaking up on behalf of students.

Representing over 19,000 students in Halifax, we advocate for student rights, build community on campus through events, support over 300 societies, and provide focused services to foster a supportive and positive student experience. Seriously, that’s why we’re here — If you are a Dalhousie student, you paid $127.28 for us to advocate, support, entertain and represent you throughout your university career. Community - Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive campus culture. Events - Encouraging the personal and professional development of our members. Services - Providing member services, society services, print services & more!

🧡 September 30th is a day to remember and honour the Indigenous children who never returned home, as well as survivors across Canada, who were taken from their families and forced to attend residential schools.

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we share Indigenous artwork as a way to honour survivors and reflect on the truths these works hold.

This artwork is called Binesi Mashkiki (Thunderbird Medicine. It is an illustration by Bridget George, an Anishinaabe author and illustrator raised on Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. It features a Thunderbird (Binesi) bringing light to the growth of flora, representing growth, healing, and strength of the spirits of the Indigenous Nations in our territories. The To***co plant symbolizes the prayer and spirit work done during healing, and the sweetgrass on the edge serves as a reminder to approach individuals affected by past and ongoing injustices with kindness. The 94 stars in the sky symbolize the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The moths in the middle remind us to move towards hope.
