Dalhousie Student Union The DSU is here because of you. Our activities fall under four main categories:

Advocacy - Uniting our collective voices, speaking up on behalf of students.

Representing over 19,000 students in Halifax, we advocate for student rights, build community on campus through events, support over 300 societies, and provide focused services to foster a supportive and positive student experience. Seriously, that’s why we’re here — If you are a Dalhousie student, you paid $127.28 for us to advocate, support, entertain and represent you throughout your university

career. Community - Creating a safe, respectful and inclusive campus culture. Events - Encouraging the personal and professional development of our members. Services - Providing member services, society services, print services & more!

We’re just ONE WEEK away from O-Week and the countdown is officially ON! Swipe to see some of our Anchor Events, A.K.A. things you absolutely do not want to miss 👀🎉

🎟️ O-WEEK PASS PICKUP

Your O-Week Pass will grant you FULL ACCESS to ALL O-Week events and is your ticket to see The Beaches at DalFest. Pick up your pass and get a tote filled with goodies!

🍿 MOVIE UNDER THE STARS

Enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars with an outdoor movie. Bring a blanket, grab some snacks, and hang out with friends. Popcorn will be provided.

🐯 TIGER WELCOME DAY

Tiger Welcome Day is Dalhousie’s official welcome to the incoming Class of 2026! Includes events like Off Campus Welcome, Spirit Rally, and Opening Ceremonies.

🎉 GLOW IN THE DARK PARTY

Get ready for a high-energy night of music and dance at the Glow in the Dark Party! Featuring a DJ, glowing props, and an electric atmosphere you don’t wanna miss.

Get ready for a campus-wide celebration of teamwork, friendly competition, and school spirit, bringing students together for a day of games, challenges, and unforgettable memories!

🧺 THE QUAD PICNIC

Take a break and enjoy a laid back afternoon. Relax on the grass, connect with peers, and take part in light games and activities in a welcoming outdoor environment.

We’re bringing the sparkle and sass to the Quad with a lineup of iconic local performers. This is your chance to laugh, cheer, and live your best life with the most fabulous folks in Halifax!

🎓 ACADEMIC ORIENTATION DAY

Academic Orientation Day is your opportunity to learn more about academic life at Dalhousie and the supports available to help you start the year with confidence.

🎫 DALFEST

Dalfest is an outdoor festival style concert, hosted annually by your student representatives, Dalhousie Student Union.
It marks the end of first-year orientation week, and helps new & returning students kick off the school year with a bang!

👀 Seeking Vendor Interest for a Dalhousie O-Week Makers Market!

Are you an artisan or individual business making and selling handmade products? 🧵 We’re looking for potential vendors to join an outdoor Makers Market for incoming Dalhousie Students during Orientation on September 6th, 2026, from 2pm – 7pm.

🔎 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Handmade creations & goodies.
- A range of unique products that would appeal to university age students
- Small individual artisans / makers who often attend markets around Halifax & NS.
- A mixture of Community members AND Student vendors!

⭐️TABLE PRICE
- Dalhousie & Kings Students 🐯: FREE Table Space
- Community Vendors 🏡: $50 / Table and 2 chairs

We’re SO excited to announce NEON DREAMS as our Dalfest opener this year! 🤩🎶 Keep on reading to learn more about getting your tickets, because you won’t want to miss this!

✅ WHO CAN ATTEND:

🐯 Dalhousie Students:

Upper year Dalhousie students will be able to acquire Dalfest tickets at no cost but will still be required to reserve a virtual ticket. *Note: Only one ticket can be reserved per person. (Student verification required.)
Incoming O-Week students who remain opted-in to O-Week will use their O-Week pass as a ticket and are not required to reserve an online ticket. 

👑 Kings Students:

As King’s students have a unique relationship with Dalhousie University and are immersed in its community, both academically and socially, the DSU is happy to announce that King’s students will be eligible to attend Dalfest this year!

As Kings students are not part of the DSU membership, Dalfest tickets for King’s students will be sold at a fee of $30/ticket and will be available to purchase through the KSU (King’s Student Union) directly. Information regarding how and when King’s student tickets will be accessed will be announced from the KSU closer to release.

‼️ Due to capacity limits, Dalfest is closed to all parties outside of the Current Dalhousie Community.

🎫 TICKET RELEASE INFORMATION:

1️⃣ Upper Year Dal Students:

FREE | (ticket reservation required) Access to Dalhousie Student ticket reservations will be live as of August 11th, 2026 and will be accessible via our website, www.dsu.ca/dalfest.

2️⃣ First-Year O-Week Passholders:

FREE | Entry with O-Week Pass (no ticket reservation required).

3️⃣ Kings Students:

$30/ Ticket | Tickets MUST be purchased through the KSU directly. Ticket information will be annouNced by the KSU directly, closer to release.

🪪 PLEASE NOTE:

Student verification will be handled at gate entrance. Please be sure you are reserving/purchasing the correct ticket, or you may be denied entry at the gate.
