Last month, Liza (President) and Moksh (Director of External Affairs) had the honour of sitting down with Nova Scotia’s Minister of Advanced Education, the Honourable Brian Wong, to talk about the state of post-secondary education in the province.
We shared what students are facing right now: unemployment, high grocery costs, housing pressures, and rising tuition, all of which add up to an affordability crisis that affects post-secondary education as a whole. Our conversation focused on making sure students get the best possible package when they choose Nova Scotia for their studies. Employment, housing, and future job opportunities all play a role in where a student decides to go to university. We also discussed the provinces priorities in terms of post-secondary.
The Minister was open and receptive, and generously gave us an extra 20 minutes beyond the scheduled meeting time. We are very thankful for that.
We look forward to keeping this relationship going and to continuing to speak up for students.
