In preparation for this year’s development week, which is February 7th-11th, we wanted to announce that we are holding an art contest!
As a way of raising awareness for UN Sustainable Development Goals, which you can learn more about at the link titled “SGD Info” in our bio, we want to see your artistic representations of a goal of your choosing! Art comes in many different forms so submissions can be:
drawings, paintings, photography, sculptures, interpretive dance, memes (appropriate of course), and so much more!
So here are the rules!
Step 1: choose a goal that resonates with you.
Step 2: create your art!
Step 3: send in a photo or video of your artwork, with a brief description of the artwork and/or why you chose that goal, to [email protected]
Once you have submitted your art we will be posting it here on our Instagram and Facebook.
Submissions will be accepted anytime between now and February 11th, after which the SMU IDS Society will be voting on a winner!
And the winner… 🥁🥁🥁
Will receive a prize valued at $200!!!
So let’s get creating!! We can’t wait to see your creative minds at work!😁
(Submissions are open to absolutely anyone and do not have to be just from SMU students, or students at all)

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” - Nelson Mandala

The IDS Society recognizes the important role quality education plays in development. Education is a powerful agent of change and contributes to individual, and societal, overall health and well-being. As a Society it is our goal to see that SDG 4 is kept at the forefront of our minds as we actively work towards becoming better facilitators of development.
