In the final session of the 2026 Professional Development Conference, you’ll hear from Engineers Nova Scotia President Dr. Jennie Rand, FEC, P.Eng., President-Elect Andrew Thalheimer, P.Eng., and CEO & Registrar Pal Mann, CD, FEC, P.Eng.

The fireside chat will reflect on progress under the 2022–2027 Strategic Plan, lessons learned, and the opportunities and challenges shaping the profession. Looking ahead to the 2028–2032 Strategic Plan, the discussion will explore emerging issues, future priorities, and how Engineers Nova Scotia can continue to adapt to a changing professional and regulatory landscape while serving the public interest.

Congratulations to Jade Farr, P.Eng., Hardware Engineer at Lockheed Martin Canada, on receiving the 2026 L.A. White Young Engineer Award, which recognizes early-career engineers for their leadership, innovation, and service to the profession and community.

Jade supports the sustainment and modernization of naval combat systems and led the development of the company’s New Graduate Development Program, now standardized across five national offices. She also serves as Chair of Engineers Nova Scotia’s Emerging Professionals Committee, supporting engineers-in-training and early-career professionals across the province, and mentors engineering students through Dalhousie University.

As an engineer with EastPoint Engineering, Kirk works with governments, municipalities, and Indigenous communities on infrastructure, energy, and climate resilience challenges. His work includes supporting energy planning and critical infrastructure projects in Nunatsiavut, leading the Town of Truro’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan, helping communities across Canada advance low-carbon, climate-resilient infrastructure, and mentoring emerging engineers.

Congratulations to Mila MacLean, P.Eng., Aircraft Production Director at IMP Aerospace & Defence, on receiving the 2026 Citizenship Award for her contributions to engineering and community service.

Alongside her aerospace career, Mila has spent more than 20 years volunteering with 4-H and nine years with Junior Achievement, supporting youth leadership and development. Through her roles as President of 4-H Nova Scotia and a member of the 4-H Canada Board of Directors, she continues to contribute to youth development across the country.

Congratulations to John Meisner, P.Eng., recipient of the 2026 Citizenship Award, recognizing his distinguished professional career and exceptional commitment to community service.

Throughout his career, John helped grow ABCO Industries Limited into an international manufacturer. Beyond his professional achievements, he has dedicated decades to preserving Nova Scotia’s maritime heritage through the Lunenburg Marine Museum Society and protecting the islands and shorelines of Mahone Bay through the Mahone Islands Conservation Association.
