This virtual seminar is hosted by Next Level U Sports in partnership with Athletics Nova Scotia and is designed to help high school athletes and their families better understand the university recruiting process in Canada and the United States.

Having worked with Athletics Nova Scotia athletes and helped them navigate their recruiting journeys, Next Level U Sports will share practical insight into what it takes to get on coaches' radars and maximize opportunities at the next level.

The session will cover when and how to contact university coaches, how often to follow up, what coaches are looking for, recruiting timelines, athletic standards, and the different opportunities available through NCAA, U SPORTS, CCAA, NAIA, and junior college programs.

Whether you're just starting the recruiting process or already communicating with coaches, this seminar will provide practical advice, realistic expectations, and clear next steps.

You know who can put a damper on an outdoor event? Mother Nature...literally! 🌧

With the predicted forecast for Saturday and continuing into next week, Athletics Nova Scotia and our partners have made the decision to postpone our 'Throw with an Olympian' event.

For anyone who has registered, Athletics Nova Scotia will be in touch. Brooklyn Recreation will refund any donations community members made for this event.

But! We have great news. While this event may not have worked out this time, we are postponing to Spring 2027. Brooklyn Recreation will once again partner with Sarah Mitton, Athletics Nova Scotia and Sport Nova Scotia to bring the community together.

Stay tuned for more details, including dates!

Grades 7–9: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Grades 10–12: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

There is a $25 donation per participant. All proceeds will go directly toward building a dedicated shot put space in Brooklyn, NS.

Join me in sending a big congratulations to Sarah Mitton!

Sarah continues to make us proud on the world stage. She just finished in second place for shot put at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. On her very first attempt in qualifying, she landed a spot in the top three.

Sarah is truly one of the world's best athletes. All of Nova Scotia is cheering you on. Keep up the great work, Sarah!
