The SANS Map Gears app is for Snowmobile Use Only. If snow is not on the ground and passable for a snowmobile to drive. you can consider the trail Closed. Snowmobile clubs & their members may be using the app while out on the trail from April to December to plan out trail work projects. As a rider you can also plan out future rides you would like to take next season!

If you are just going out for a drive on your Atv/sxs between April & December we recommend you use the ATV Association of Nova Scotia Map Gears app. It will show you all legal riding areas available in Nova Scotia.

While some trails on both maps will appear to be the same there are also sensitive areas such as farmers fields or private lands who only permit snowmobiles. While out on the trail keep an eye out for signage. Some trails are posted snowmobile only.

That well used path may be a landowner accessing their property but the trail can still be signed snowmobile only!

It’s International Trails Day! We thank the volunteers who help make our trails what they are!

We are very grateful that some snowmobile clubs were able to obtain some Canadian Culture Tourism & Heritage Recreational Trail Expansion funding towards some projects this season!

Nova Scotia is criss-crossed with thousands of kilometres of beautiful trails that we use and enjoy in our own ways every single day.

These trails simply would not exist if it weren’t for the amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to build, maintain, and advocate for them day in and day out. So no matter how you choose to celebrate the day, be sure to thank a volunteer the next time you see them out there - and maybe ask how you can get involved too! 💪
