We had our first educational event to support our new Native Planting & Biodiversity competition at Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project this morning.

It was a great turn out, and we thank Gary and Sarah from Macphail’s for the insightful presentation and walk through identifying native plants.

A special thank you to PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund for their support in this event.

All participants went home with a native plant and a seed packet of coneflowers donated by Veseys Seeds Ltd.!

Our President, Elaine, purchased native plants to start her own native planting!

See you at our next free event on May 30th, 9am - 12pm at the Stanley Bridge Hall.

Our 4th event for launching our new competition; Native Planting and Biodiversity is now set to take place!

We are partnering with the Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association to offer a Gardening for Biodiversity workshop! Join us for an afternoon of learning how to diversify your garden on June 6 from 1–3 pm. Explore topics including native plants for fall blooms, butterfly host species, starting plants from seed, and much more.

BBEMA will cover criteria outlined in the Native Planting and Biodiversity competition created by the Rural Beautification Society, including the 3x3x3 planting rule, effective layering, PEI native plant species, responsible wildlife support, and common invasive garden species.

Participants will receive resources to help diversify their gardens, including a Gardening for Biodiversity Guidebook and locally sourced seeds.

This workshop was made possible with support from the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund.

No registration required!
