Nobody should have to give up gardening just because their knees say no. 🌱

A few weeks back, our members headed over to the Clyde River Community Centre and built elevated garden beds right on top of their picnic tables — a project we're proud to do for the Clyde River Women's Institute PEI.

The idea is simple: gardening should be for everyone. These raised beds mean anyone who struggles to kneel down can still grow, tend, and harvest with ease.

They’re not quite finished yet; still need to be stained and have trim added around the edges. Proud of the crew for another job well done! 🛠️

A huge thank you to the Clyde River Community Centre and the Clyde River Women's Institute PEI for being such amazing partners in this project. We hope these new beds bring lots of fresh produce and joy to your community!

🛴 Falls happen fast. Prevention starts before the ride.

E-scooter injuries are rising across Canada, and many involve head injuries. Knowing the rules of the road is important for everyone's safety!

Before you ride:
✔ You must be at least 16 years old
✔ Wear a properly fitted CSA-approved helmet
✔ Ride solo, no passengers
✔ Stay visible with lights and reflective clothing
✔ Use hand signals if your scooter doesn't have turn indicators
✔ Stay alert and keep your focus on the road, not your phone or headphones
✔ Watch for pedestrians, intersections, and changing road conditions
✔ Never ride impaired by alcohol or drugs

Remember: E-scooters are not permitted on sidewalks, the Confederation Trail, or roads with speed limits over 60km/h.

For men over 50, the big issues are heart disease, type 2 diabetes, prostate problems, bone and muscle loss, and mental health – all of which are helped by staying active, connected, and informed. A Shed ticks all three boxes.
If you’re a man who could use a place to tinker, have a laugh, and quietly look after your health at the same time, come check out the Men’s Shed. New faces always welcome.
This weeks meeting will be held at a members cottage, please message me for the location.

The world's first men's shed was established in 1988 in Tongala, Australia, and has since sparked a global movement. Built on a simple but powerful philosophy—that men in retirement need somewhere to go, something to do, and someone to talk to—men's sheds have grown to over 3,300 locations across 15+ countries worldwide.

Join us this week to discover what we're all about! Visit us this Thursday at the Community Room at Sobeys, 400 University Ave, from 6–8 PM. New faces are always welcome—we'd love to see you there!
