Hummingbird House Hummingbird House is Queensland's only children's hospice and one of only three children's hospices in Australia.

Right now, there are over 5,700 Queensland families loving and caring for a child with a life-limiting condition. Sadly, this means that their child is not expected to reach 18 years of age. Hummingbird House is Queensland’s only children’s hospice, and one of only three children’s hospices in Australia. We provide specialised paediatric palliative care services to babies, children and young people with a life-limiting condition, helping them make every moment precious when time is short. Since 2016, we have welcomed hundreds of families from right across Queensland into our warm embrace, providing them with kindness, compassion, and care as they navigate their lives with a child with a life-limiting condition. Hummingbird House is a joint initiative of Hummingbird House Foundation and Wesley Mission Queensland. The life-changing services we offer wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of the Queensland community, who ensure our service is here for every family that needs us, at no cost to them.

10 years of love, laughter and holding families close during their most precious and difficult moments. 💜 We are still buzzing with gratitude reflecting on last week’s milestone celebration for Hummingbird House!

A massive, heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff, volunteers, families, and supporters who make this house a home. We were also deeply honored to welcome Queensland Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, and are so grateful to our wonderful friends from for helping us mark a decade of care.

Meet Amy (Coles Yarrabilba) and Chloe (Coles Browns Plains), teammates for 17 years with a shared passion for making a difference!

From selling T-shirts to help build Hummingbird House, their commitment has only grown. This year, this dynamic duo organised their regional trivia night, raising more than $20,000! 🌟

For Amy, now a parent, visiting the House made the cause deeply personal: “Being able to see exactly why you’re doing this really drives you to push more.”

Today is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. 💜

For 10 years, Hummingbird House has had the profound privilege of walking alongside Queensland families caring for a child with a life-limiting condition. And we know we're not alone. Across the world, hospice care holds families close every day.

Maybe it cared for your grandparent, your friend, or your child. Or maybe you simply believe no family should go through this alone.

For 10 years, Hummingbird House has been a safe haven for those precious moments, filled with love, compassion, care and the people who help families make the most of every single moment together.

Today we celebrate 10 years of Hummingbird House, and the generous community that made one family's vision a reality for the hundreds of families that we have been privileged to walk alongside over the past 10 years. 🏡

The flowers were in full bloom at the second annual Blue Skies for Charlie Day. 💜💙

Created by owners Fred and Rachel, the day honours the memory of their grandson Charlie, who spent his final days at the House in the loving care of his parents Tom and Caitlin and the Hummingbird House team.

This year there was an extra special guest with Charlie’s baby brother Noah joining in. Through flower-picking workshops, merchandise sales, and fundraising, the community raised vital funds and awareness for families facing the unimaginable.

Thank you and everyone involved for your generous support. Charlie’s legacy continues to shine brightly. 💙🦋
