Act for Kids welcomes the creation of a new Queensland Child Protection Commission and dedicated intelligence hub, a significant step toward strengthening child safety across the state. This reform will bring key safeguarding efforts together and help better protect vulnerable children.
While this is an important milestone, there’s still more to be done, including improving consistency in Working with Children Checks nationwide and investing in prevention through education.

Imagine a room full of people who decided to show up, not just for a great night out, but for the children who needed them too. That's the Stadium of Hope 2026 Gala Dinner, and we'd love you to be part of it.

🗓️ Saturday 22 August 2026 | The Star Brisbane
🕡 6:30 pm – 11:00 pm
🎟️ $350 per seat
https://t.mtrbio.com/act-for-kids-events

This isn't just another gala dinner. It's the night we begin filling a virtual stadium of supporters, every seat representing a commitment to children and families impacted by trauma.

We're proud to be supported by Budget Direct, BYD, Vivid Property, DENZA Brisbane, The Hymack Girls, Synergy Blooms and AV Partners, and we're looking for more organisations ready to stand alongside us.

Seats are going fast. Don't miss your place in the room where it all begins.

Every child deserves shelter after a storm ⛈️. For some children, home is the storm.
This May, we're asking you to be the umbrella ☂️ — the steady, caring presence that helps a child find safety while they heal.
Act for Kids therapists work every day to provide that shelter. But they can't do it without you ❤️ Our giving appeal is now open. Your tax-deductible gift helps a child begin to feel safe again. Donate before June 30 ➡️ https://tinyurl.com/actforkidstaxappeal

Still beaming from Thursday’s National Reconciliation Week event! !
Thank you to every single person who showed up — whether in the room at Everton Park Library or joining us via Teams. Your presence made it special.
This was truly a shared learning experience for us and Play Matters, and we’re so grateful to have learned alongside such engaged and thoughtful people.
A shoutout to Figjam & Co — Jabob Davidson, your Native Bushfoods Workshop was an absolute highlight. The wisdom, culture, and connection you brought into that space were something we won't forget. Thank you for sharing your knowledge so generously.
And to Tammy Wallace, thank you for opening our hearts and minds through the Reflective Yarning Circle.
This is what reconciliation looks like in action. 💛❤️🖤 💚🖤🤍💙

Did you know? The first 1,000 days of a baby's life shape how their brain develops, including how they manage emotions for the rest of their life. Infant mental health isn't about babies being 'stressed.' It's about the magic and hard work of creating connection. You don't have to be a perfect parent. You just have to show up. Share this with a new parent in your life — they need to hear it.

There's a reason kids come back from the park calmer. Research shows that time in nature reduces anxiety, improves focus, builds resilience, and supports emotional regulation in children. And also in adults!
A stick. A puddle. A hill to roll down. Nature doesn't need a program.
This World Environment Day (5 June), we're celebrating the simplest, most powerful thing you can do for your child's mental health: go outside together, have some grounding moments and learn how to better care for our environment. Even 20 minutes in a green space makes a difference. If you saw this post, it’s your reminder to go on a nature walk this week.

We were privileged to hear from Robyn, a proud Aboriginal woman with connections to Budjiti and Mardigan Country, who shared her experiences, insights and the important work she and her team do to embed cultural practices into frontline services every day.
It was a valuable and meaningful conversation that created a safe space for staff to listen, ask questions, deepen their understanding, and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and perspectives.
These opportunities to come together, share stories and learn from one another help strengthen our commitment to reconciliation and creating culturally safe environments for children, young people and families.
Thank you, Robyn, for sharing your knowledge, experiences and wisdom with us.
