Brrrrr! This weather will help acclimatise runners who are competing in Toowoomba next month at Highfields for the States! One person I know calls the Garden City the ‘Fridge on the Ridge’ and after the last couple of days I somewhat agree!

Tomorrow we are back at Huxtable Park so let’s see where they set the course this time. See you there. 🌬️

Before you wonder, this photo was prior to photoshop - actually 1969. One of the people in this article regularly is in attendance at our afternoons!

We are a really small team that set up the Queensland Running events. Those you see are Andrew, Angie, Anne, Peter, Phil and Steve but there is one person who volunteers behind the scenes and organises our website, designs the process that makes entering on-line so simple - this person is Jacob! We are ever so grateful for the time and effort he contributes to Queensland Running - thank you so much Jacob. 🌻

This Saturday we are at the Newman Road end of 7th Brigade Park and hopefully this fine, but cloudy and windy Friday will dry out the course somewhat. See you tomorrow.

Following the heavy rainfall last week and the bottom section of the floodway being extremely wet for our Huxtable Park meet, the ‘three amigos’ decided to try and give runners a course that avoided having to wear flippers up towards the Webster Road roundabout! They spent some time yesterday morning looking at an alternative and would like some feedback from yesterday’s runners as to what they thought about the change. Please send us a message.
I do apologise to our younger runners, who I imagine do not have access to Facebook. Would parents like to ask their children what they thought about it. Olivia F. liked it, any other thoughts from our school-aged athletes.

Back to Huxtable Park at Chermside West, with its ‘gentle’ hill this Saturday. Something in this park for everyone, even a half court basketball space; plenty of wildlife; and a playground close by for the little ones. See you there tomorrow.

Tomorrow our running is at 7th Brigade Park. Just to let new runners know, we are at the Newman Road and Delaware Street end of the park, NOT at Kid’s Space on Murphy Road.

As much as we complain about the rainy weather, three of our lady runners last week at Teralba discovered they would be in the Blue Mountains for the Ultra-Trail event this weekend. Brrrhh! Hope it is a great experience for you.

The concept of Queensland Running was conceived by a group of five people back in 1999 and on Friday last we farewelled one of the five, Gerry Schrama, a stalwart of Jimboomba Athletics Club. Gerry was a familiar and encouraging face to our early runners as a course marshall. He retired to Hervey Bay in 2015 but every so often arrived at one of our race meets. After a long battle with lll health, he passed away peacefully on the 24th April. He was 82 years of age. His legacy will long be remembered.

We trust you enjoyed your district carnivals throughout the week.

Well our meet at Pine Rivers Park was a wonderful (almost dry, especially compared with last year!) afternoon. Just that short shower that made everyone run for cover.
Thank you all for your support and we hope all the runners competing in their district carnivals over the next couple of weeks enjoy their competition. Good Luck kids.
What about the Dad who was so impressed by the energy of the kids, that he signed up to run! Good on him. No name, but great to see one of our original runners back for a recovery run! You have been missed.
Another thank you to the parents who helped throughout the day. Your assistance is so much appreciated by our small team.
Remember, Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun.

To enable the smooth running of tomorrow's Prep meet at Pine Rivers Park Strathpine we are requesting that you enter online (via the Website) or by email before 9.30 tomorrow morning. We have a limited number of volunteers and early entries will help the afternoon run in an timely manner.

Your assistance will be much appreciated.

Young runners who already have their 2026 numbers, please remember to bring them. Those of you who popped them in the box after your last run, they will be available to collect in a separate box, in alphabetical order (by last name).
