๐Ÿ’š All it takes is one act of kindness to help a grieving family. ๐Ÿ’š

Hopewell Hospice isn't just a home for people in their final momentsโ€”it's also for their families.

Our care extends to a guest's loved ones. Whether it's grief counselling, social support, pastoral support or other support services, Hopewell recognises that grief is not a linear journey and will continue to support families after the death of their loved one.

Your donation allows us to keep operating, and goes towards caring not only for guests, but their loved ones. Please continue to support us for our 2026 Tax Appeal. Link in comments ๐Ÿ”—

Ten years ago, Sara was a community carer in South Australia, but she wanted more. After exploring her options (and working three simultaneous jobs at one point), she landed at Hadden Place, one of our respite care centres, and has been there ever since. ๐Ÿ’š

As a personal carer, Sara's day is jam-packed and with a supportive team, every day is fulfilling. "It's work and fun at the same time," she says, "which you can't get everywhere."

When she first started a decade ago, one of the tasks new to her was hosting activities and entertaining folks. Now, it's one of the most enjoyable parts of her role! When she's not hosting bingo afternoons, playing music or teaching dance, she's taking residents on bus trips to places like Mt Coot-tha, local parks and more.

"This is the most fun I have in Hadden Place... I enjoy working every day," she says with a smile.

At Wesley Mission Queensland, we believe that every person deserves to feel safe, valued, respected and empowered to be their authentic self. ๐Ÿ’š

Inclusion is more than just a statementโ€”itโ€™s reflected in the everyday actions we take, the conversations we encourage, and the environments we create. For Pride Month this year, some individuals have shared what they value most about being part of our inclusive community.

This month, we encourage everyone to take the opportunity to learn more, show support and reflect on how we can each contribute to a more inclusive and welcoming community. Small actions can make a meaningful difference in helping others feel seen, respected and valued. ๐Ÿค

Meet Kellie ๐Ÿ‘ฉ and Maggie ๐Ÿถ

For years, these much-loved companion volunteers have brought comfort and joy to guests at Hopewell Hospice. They witness precious moments as families share quiet conversations and time together.

โ€œWhen Maggie and I walk through the doors of Hopewell Hospice, it immediately feels like home.โ€ With personalised rooms and comforting meals, the hospice provides warmth, compassion, and specialised care.

Your support helps make these moments possible. Please donate today and Give the Gift of Home. Link in comments ๐Ÿ”—

Congratulations to volunteer Michelle for her nomination for the Queensland New to Volunteering Award! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰

Michelle brings comfort and connection to residents, children and families at WesleyCare Mt Gravatt and Hummingbird House.

Since beginning her volunteering journey in early 2025, Michelle has made a meaningful impact through activities such as art support, conversation, organising play spaces and mending items.

Her motivation comes from โ€œthe sheer enjoyment (she sees) in everyoneโ€™s eyesโ€ and the opportunity to bring companionship, laughter and connection to others. ๐Ÿ’š

The Brisbane Emergency Relief Hub is a quiet force of change, giving hope to those in need on the daily. In 2024/25, the Hub rendered aid to people from all over South East Queensland, providing:

๐Ÿ’š 16,840 community meals,
๐Ÿ’š $19,748 in client rent arrears and utility bills,
๐Ÿ’š 5,031 food hampers,
๐Ÿ’š 695 medical prescription vouchers,
๐Ÿ’š And so much more.

As Hub Manager Penny said, they wouldn't be able to do what they do without donations and the support of our community and you. Please donate today, so that the Emergency Relief Hub can continue to help those in need. Link in comments. ๐Ÿ”—

"Reconciliation is a journey, not a one-time thing."

National Reconciliation Week 2026 reminds us that reconciliation is a nationwide commitment. We sat down with Aunty Rose to hear what reconciliation means to her, and her role in it as an Elder. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿšจ 2026 TAX APPEAL UPDATE ๐Ÿšจ

For services like the Brisbane Emergency Relief Hub, every donation goes a long way towards changing a life. In Queensland, single parents with two children are falling short by $227 every weekโ€”so it only takes a couple of $50 donations to put food on the table for families and people doing it tough right now.

Hopewell Hospice also continues to provide specialised adult palliative care. With your support, they can continue to offer families precious time and the gift of home in their final moments together.

We're two weeks into our 2026 Tax Appeal, so please continue to donate what you can. Every dollar helps, and goes towards strengthening our communities ๐Ÿ’š Links in comments ๐Ÿ”—

๐Ÿ’š What is the Emergency Relief Hub? ๐Ÿ’š

We sat down with Penny, Manager of our Brisbane Hub to get a quick rundown on the amazing work they do, and the impact they have on the lives of those in crisis.

The Hub is more than just a place for basic essentials. It's a place of hope, connection and community. It's a place that asks for little and gives a lot, and without the support of donors, it couldn't do what it does today.

Join the driving force behind the Hubโ€”donate today, so that people like Penny can continue to give the gift of hope to Queenslanders in need. Link in comments ๐Ÿ”—
