Founded in 1907, Wesley Mission Queensland has been supporting Queenslanders in need for over 100 years.

Our vision is for compassion, justice and inclusion for all members of our community. Wesley Mission Queensland has been caring for the community for more than 100 years. Since our beginnings in 1907 in the roots of the Albert Street Methodist church (now the Uniting Church) in Brisbane, we have been living our mission by supporting people on the margins of society. Wesley Mission Queensland provides vital community services and programs that support youth and families, seniors, people living with a disability and people experiencing unemployment, disadvantage, homelessness and isolation. In all that we do, we strive to empower the people we work with through our compassion, our commitment to justice and our desire to create an inclusive society for all. Parkview aged care community went back in time to the Roaring Twenties! 🥂✨

Our residents recently enjoyed a Gatsby-themed BBQ, one of the regular themed lunches that bring our community together over good food and great company.

It was a double celebration too. We wished a very happy birthday to residents Darrell and John, who marked the day in true Gatsby style!

Guests told us the highlights were the dazzling decorations, the chance to dress up, and an incredible lemon meringue pie.

Nearly 10 years ago, Marcus Pender ditched a "soul-crushing" career to join Wesley Mission Queensland, and he’s never looked back! 🚀

Now, as our Customer Experience Centre Manager, Marcus is the ultimate bridge-builder. He streamlines caller experiences, leads an amazing team, and yes, he still loves jumping on the phones to chat!

Off the clock, he’s a proud Dad, a self-proclaimed nerd, and the mastermind behind a daily fun-fact email. (Mind-blowing fact of the day: the colour orange was actually named after the fruit, not the other way around! 🍊)

"I've been really blessed to work with genuinely great people who have pushed me to become the person I am today," Marcus shares.

Meet Shannon, a valued member of our Parkview Aged Care Community team, whose birthday was yesterday!

After a career in admin, Shannon joined Wesley Mission Queensland looking for a deeper sense of purpose, and she found it. “I will never leave, this is my forever job,” she says. Whether it’s sharing a chat, a smile, or helping residents enjoy what they love, Shannon makes a positive difference every single day.

Outside of work, she loves animals, op-shopping and gardening. She celebrated her birthday with dinner with her family and her favourite treat: gluten-free karaage chicken!

We hope you had a wonderful birthday, Shannon! 🎂 We are so grateful for the warmth, dedication and joy you bring to the Parkview Aged Care Community.

Sometimes, kindness grows from a simple visit🌱

After recently touring Hopewell Hospice, the Order of Buffalo’s Grand Australasian Banner chose Hopewell as their 2025/26 Charity of Choice! Moved by our dedicated staff, the care we provide, and the serenity of our beautiful gardens, they rallied together to make an extraordinary impact.

Through donations from 12 Queensland Lodges, the Buffalos generously presented Hopewell with an incredible $8,000 to support our services. 💚

“We were honoured to have Tanya and Claire from the WMQ Fundraising Team attend a recent Buffalo gathering, where they shared moving stories from families who have experienced the comfort and compassion of Hopewell.”

What a community 💚 Thank you, Buffalo members, for backing our work and helping families find support, hope, and practical help when they need it most.

What an incredible day of connection and celebration! 💚

Almost 400 staff from across Wesley Mission Queensland came together for our biggest Charter Day yet, with many more joining us online.

Charter Day is a truly special event at WMQ, giving our team a chance to reflect on how we contribute to our mission every day. We were incredibly honoured to hear from our leaders and colleagues who generously shared their own stories of lived experience.

We also announced the peer-nominated Charter Awards, celebrating employees who live our values in their day-to-day work. With so many outstanding nominees this year, several categories even had multiple winners! 🏆

Charter Day 2026 was filled with connection, pride, and impact—a beautiful reminder that people are at the heart of everything we do.

Look who’s got the band back together!

Sinnamon Village aged care community has been rocking out to the sounds of its very own band - Electric Mayhem - since the start of this year. Electric Mayhem was formed by residents Ian and John, volunteer Rosie and chaplain Eric, who all have musical backgrounds.

In fact, Ian is a former professional musician who even who wrote a song that was played at the Sydney Opera House and made its way on to an album in the 1970s!

Electric Mayhem recently played at Sinnamon’s Got Talent, and everyone was chuffed to see them in action.

Keep on rocking Electric Mayhem! 🤘🎸
