Human trafficking is never an isolated incident. The systems set in place to abuse and exploit people are robust and high function. Communities can be shattered, the sense of safety and justice broken. The horror parents feel when they are unable to protect their children is devastating. The SHE Rescue Home counsellors and social workers support families as they wrestle with their grief. No one should be alone while trying to rebuild their lives. The pain the families and their daughters are feeling takes time to recover and heal. Sexual exploitation violates your body, your sense of self, your trust in others. The pain, anger, grief, disassociation, despair can be unbearable. No one should have to recover alone. The children we work with in the SHE Rescue Home are girls experiencing all of this and more but they don’t have to carry it alone. Our incredible housemums, their social worker and counsellor all give support and guidance while they recover.
