If you don’t know what we do, we’re a non-profit organization that has a goal of inspiring and empowering the Hispanic Community through educational and networking opportunities. HIRE: RENT TO OWN - RISKS VS REWARDS EVENT.

We want to take a HUGE moment to thank Matthew Agnew for coming out yesterday to share this educational presentation on the risks vs rewards of rent-to-own.

Key takeaways:

- make sure you actually understand what you’re getting yourself into before signing a rent to own agreement.
- there’s a difference between lease option & lease purchase

Common red flags can include:

✨The seller discourages independent legal review, inspection, appraisal, title work, or header conversations
✨large nonrefundable money is due before title, liens, or mortgage status is verified
✨the purchase price or payoff amount is unclear,
✨The buyer is responsible for major repairs but has little protection if the transaction never closes
✨The agreement is not recorded, and there is no other clear mechanism protecting the buyer's interest

Puntos clave:

- Asegúrate de entender realmente en qué te estás metiendo antes de firmar un contrato de alquiler con opción a compra.
- Existe una diferencia entre el contrato de arrendamiento con opción a compra (*lease option*) y el contrato de arrendamiento con obligación de compra (*lease purchase*).

Algunas señales de alerta comunes son:

✨ El vendedor desaconseja la revisión legal independiente, la inspección, la tasación, la verificación del título de propiedad o las consultas directas.
✨ Se exige una suma importante de dinero no reembolsable antes de verificar el estado del título, los gravámenes o la hipoteca.
✨ El precio de compra o el monto de liquidación no están claros.

Matthew is a real estate attorney, and the goal is to provide a neutral, educational presentation covering both the advantages and potential risks of rent-to-own agreements.

Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions people make. This session will help attendees better understand whether a rent-to-own agreement is the right path by discussing the legal considerations, benefits, risks, and common misconceptions.

This is a COMMUNITY EVENT but you MUST RSVP on our website at hispanicsinre.org so we can have a proper headcount. We will have translation headsets available for anyone the RSVP's and requests it ONLY!

Our board of directors got together today for our August Retreat.

The August retreat consists of coming up with new ideas on how to better our organization & help better serve our community by implementing our mission statement. 🏡
