What a great week at the Habitat for Humanity conference in Atlanta! 🏡💚

Five Kansas affiliates were represented, including six Habitat Kansas board members. I didn’t take many pictures because I was too busy learning, connecting, and soaking up new ideas to bring back to Kansas!

A special thank you to our board members who took time away from work and other commitments to be there. I truly appreciate your dedication to Habitat’s mission and the families we serve. It means a lot to have people who care so much about making a difference across our state.

I’m heading home feeling inspired and grateful for the people who make this work so meaningful. There is so much we can accomplish when we learn from each other and work together!

Yesterday, executive leaders from Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Kansas and Habitat for Humanity Kansas board members gathered to connect, collaborate, and strengthen our shared mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.

Against the beautiful backdrop of Coronado Heights, we celebrated the power of coming together to share ideas, learn from one another, and build an even stronger Habitat network across our state. When we work together as One Habitat, we can accomplish so much more for the families and communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who invested their time, insights, and passion into making the retreat a success. The future of Habitat in Kansas is brighter because of your leadership. 💙🏡 Special thanks to the Lindsborg Library for the use of their beautiful Heritage Room for our meeting!!

Habitat for Humanity Kansas is incredibly grateful to Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and Union State Bank for partnering with us on a $735,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant award.

These funds will provide critical down payment assistance and closing cost support for 35 planned Habitat homes across Kansas, helping more families achieve the dream of safe, stable, and affordable homeownership.

Habitat homeowners demonstrate a need for affordable housing, are able to pay an affordable mortgage, and invest hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” alongside volunteers and staff. Most families served earn between 30% and 60% of the area median income and receive no-interest mortgage loans.

We are honored to be among the 31 projects selected as part of FHLBank Topeka’s $33.9 million commitment to affordable housing in 2025. The Independence Housing Authority received a $1,367,254 AHP grant in partnership with Equity Bank, Andover, to support cutting edge 3D-printed homes. Winfield Area Habitat for Humanity went from serving one family a year to 11 families so far in 2026 through home repairs and ensuring people can safely remain in their homes.
