Habitat for Humanity Kansas is incredibly grateful to Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and Union State Bank for partnering with us on a $735,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant award.

These funds will provide critical down payment assistance and closing cost support for 35 planned Habitat homes across Kansas, helping more families achieve the dream of safe, stable, and affordable homeownership.

Habitat homeowners demonstrate a need for affordable housing, are able to pay an affordable mortgage, and invest hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” alongside volunteers and staff. Most families served earn between 30% and 60% of the area median income and receive no-interest mortgage loans.

We are honored to be among the 31 projects selected as part of FHLBank Topeka’s $33.9 million commitment to affordable housing in 2025. This investment is creating opportunities for families and strengthening communities across the region. https://www.fhlbtopeka.com/resource-center/news/2025-12-22/fhlbank-topeka-awards-nearly-34-million-in-affordable-housin

Thank you to FHLBank Topeka, Union State Bank, and all of the partners who continue to invest in affordable housing and brighter futures for Kansas families.

The Independence Housing Authority received a $1,367,254 AHP grant in partnership with Equity Bank, Andover, to support cutting edge 3D-printed homes. Before the sun comes up, before the day begins, there’s a quiet moment at home.

Maybe it’s a cup of coffee at the kitchen table.
Maybe it’s the sound of kids still asleep down the hall.
Maybe it’s simply the peace of knowing you have a place that’s yours.

For many families across Kansas, that moment hasn’t always been possible. Rising costs and limited housing options have kept homeownership out of reach.

But every day, through Habitat for Humanity Kansas, that story is changing. Families are opening doors to safe, affordable homes—building stability, creating memories, and investing in their futures.

This Sunday, as you enjoy your own quiet moment, consider how you can help create that same opportunity for someone else.
