Habitat for Humanity Kansas is incredibly grateful to Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and Union State Bank for partnering with us on a $735,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant award.

These funds will provide critical down payment assistance and closing cost support for 35 planned Habitat homes across Kansas, helping more families achieve the dream of safe, stable, and affordable homeownership.

Habitat homeowners demonstrate a need for affordable housing, are able to pay an affordable mortgage, and invest hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” alongside volunteers and staff. Most families served earn between 30% and 60% of the area median income and receive no-interest mortgage loans.

We are honored to be among the 31 projects selected as part of FHLBank Topeka’s $33.9 million commitment to affordable housing in 2025. The Independence Housing Authority received a $1,367,254 AHP grant in partnership with Equity Bank, Andover, to support cutting edge 3D-printed homes. Winfield Area Habitat for Humanity went from serving one family a year to 11 families so far in 2026 through home repairs and ensuring people can safely remain in their homes.
