Our featured member for May is Ann Senethivisouk! Ann serves as our Engineering Expo Materials Chair and is highly involved in SWE, along with many other Wichita-area professional and community organizations.
Ann earned her bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Wichita State University and brings over 15 years of experience in software and systems engineering. She began her career at Boeing as an Embedded Software Engineer supporting strategic defense programs, where she developed automated test cases and applied structured software practices to ensure reliability of aerial refueling control systems.
She now serves as a Systems Engineer on the Systems Engineer Interfaces and Test (SEIT) Team at Spirit Defense, a Boeing Company, where she has worked for over six years. In this role, she focuses on verifying and validating systems for defense and space programs, ensuring compliance with government and engineering standards. She also supports process improvements, manages change implementation planning, and contributes to technical documentation under review.
Ann is highly engaged both professionally and in her community. She serves on Wichita State University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Industry Advisory Board and is active in organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers, the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), and the National Association of Asian American Professionals. She has also played a key role in planning Wichita’s annual Asian Festival through the Wichita Asian Association, and contributed to internal inclusion initiatives and employee engagement efforts at Spirit. Outside of work, she values family time, enjoys traveling and exploring local dining, and is currently learning to play mahjong.
Ann's advice for new engineers is to be adaptable and flexible. In your new position, you may find yourself taking on various roles and adjusting to evolving situations. Job descriptions can often serve merely as a framework, particularly in smaller companies. Embrace the chance to engage in diverse tasks and responsibilities, as this will enhance your skills and contribute to your growth.
