🎨🎭 Celebrating Creativity, Community, and Connection 🎭🎨

To celebrate the vibrant visual and performing arts scene in our community, the Supports team recently enjoyed two wonderful local events: Art in the Park at city hall in Westminster, Maryland and North Carroll Dance Inc. recital at Coppermine Pantherplex.

From exploring artwork created by local artists and vendors 🖼️ to enjoying energetic performances on stage 💃, these experiences offered opportunities for joy, inspiration, and self-expression. The group was especially excited to cheer on one of our Day Program DSPs, Devan, during the recital! 👏🌟

At The Arc Carroll County, we believe meaningful community inclusion means having opportunities to explore interests, discover new experiences, and participate in the cultural life of our community. Whether through the arts, recreation, employment, or volunteering, everyone deserves the chance to engage in activities that bring them joy and enrich their lives. 💜

Our dedicated DSPs spent the week sharing smiles, support, and meaningful experiences with the people we serve. From enjoying the beauty of nature, learning bike repair skills, engaging with animals at petting zoos, participating in cooking classes, attending picnics and exploring creativity through laser cutting classes at Exploration Commons at 50 East, it was a week full of learning, growth, and fun.

We're grateful for the dedication of our DSPs and the many opportunities that help make each day engaging and enriching. ❤️

This Thankful Thursday, we are proud to recognize and thank North Star Foundations for their incredible partnership and support of our Raise the Roof project. 🙌✨

As work continues to move forward on our two new accessible homes, North Star Foundations has played an important role in helping bring this vision to life. Their expertise, hard work, and commitment on-site have helped transform plans on paper into meaningful progress you can now physically see taking shape. 🚜🏠

Projects like Raise the Roof are built not only with materials and equipment, but with people who care deeply about the impact of the work they are doing. Every step forward on this site represents future opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live with greater independence, dignity, and connection within our community. 💜

We are deeply grateful to the North Star Foundations team for helping us build something that will change lives for years to come. 🌟

Today we’re proud to spotlight Melissa Meyer, our most senior Employment Specialist—known for her calm, steady presence and the way she instantly puts people at ease. 💙🌟

With 8½ years at The Arc Carroll County and 7½ years in employment services, Melissa brings deep experience and a thoughtful, relationship-centered approach to her work every day. 🙌

Her gentle guidance helps individuals build confidence and grow—even through challenging moments—and her impact is felt far beyond the workplace. 🤝✨

One of Melissa’s proudest moments? Supporting an individual in securing employment in the field they were passionate about—and watching them continue their journey by pursuing college education in that same field. 🎓👏

Melissa also shares that one of the most surprising parts of her role is the number of relationships built along the way—with employers, coworkers, families, and the broader community. 💬💙

And her advice is something we can all carry with us:
💡 “Never take things personally. If it won’t matter tomorrow, let it go. Don’t hold grudges.”

Community Living participants- Jeanne, Trish, and Peggy- spent the day exploring vendors, enjoying delicious treats 🍿, reconnecting with friends, and soaking in every moment of fun together. 😊

Tuesday evening, we had the privilege of gathering to celebrate a group of individuals whose leadership, commitment, and generosity help guide our mission forward every day—our Board of Directors. 🌟

At The Arc Carroll County, we are incredibly fortunate to have a board that gives so freely of their time, talent, and treasure. Their dedication extends far beyond board meetings, providing thoughtful governance, strategic leadership, advocacy, and unwavering support for the individuals and families we serve. Their belief in our mission helps ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities have opportunities to live fulfilling, meaningful lives in our community. 💜

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was recognizing Corynne Courpas with the honorary title of Director Emeritus. This recognition reflects her years of dedicated leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to The Arc’s mission. Her impact on our organization and the people we support will be felt for years to come, and we are deeply grateful for all she has given to The Arc Carroll County. 💜👏

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Celene Stenkel, Carroll County Citizen Services, for graciously installing our new slate of officers. Her leadership, service, and commitment to our community made the occasion even more meaningful, and we are grateful for her participation in this special tradition. 🌟
