We have three classrooms available for sessions.

Our mission is to provide adult learners with free, confidential one-on-one tutoring to develop or improve their skills in English, reading, writing, math, and other subjects, enabling them to reach their personal goals. All of our tutors are dedicated and trained volunteers who are able to work with students in the mastery of a variety of subjects, ranging from the development of reading and writing skills to Pre-GED and Work Readiness courses.

Join us tomorrow at Carroll County Public Library’s first-ever Carroll Book Festival! You can find us at 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝟏𝟎𝟎 alongside local authors Lois Szymanski, Joanne Sayre, and Bill Fortin. We will also be selling our new "Cooking for Literacy" cookbook! Born from a fundraiser idea by our tutors, this collection features recipes contributed by our staff, volunteers, local residents, and favorite area restaurants. See you there!

Today, the Carroll County Commissioners presented an official proclamation honoring our dedicated staff, tutors, and volunteers. We’re deeply grateful for their recognition and proud to continue helping adult learners achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Literacy Council students continue to strive and succeed! Congratulations to our student, Lourdes Guzmon, who was recently hired by Random House, where she will be packing books to fulfill orders. She independently applied, interviewed, and accepted a new position there in late July. We are so proud and wish Lourdes well in this and all her future endeavors!

We mourn the loss of Dolly Parton, a friend and champion of literacy.

💜 ProLiteracy mourns the loss of Dolly Parton, a true champion of literacy. Because her father was unable to read, she was dedicated to enriching lives and promoting family literacy through her Imagination Library. As a result, millions of children and families have built a love of reading.
💜 Rest in peace, Dolly.
