❤️ The holidays aren’t always the most wonderful time of the year for everyone.

For those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, this season can bring a lot of difficult emotions, memories and heartache.

At MREC, we believe no one should have to walk through difficult seasons alone.

That’s why we wanted to share this wonderful resource with our community. ❤️

GriefShare’s Surviving the Holidays seminar is designed to offer encouragement, support and practical tools to help those navigating grief during the holiday season.

❤️ Grief and hope. Two things that can exist together.

Yesterday, MREC had the privilege of hosting our Grieving with Hope Community Roundtable at the Carroll Nonprofit Center.

Grief touches all of us in different ways, and having a community that knows how to walk alongside those who are hurting can make all the difference.

We are so thankful for the meaningful conversations, shared wisdom, and the incredible people and organizations helping bring hope and healing to our community!

A special thank you to Braver Angels Carroll County Maryland, GriefShare, and Amanda Gibbons, LCSW-C, PMH-C | MD & PA for the important work you do to support individuals and families through difficult seasons.

At MREC, we believe stronger communities begin with stronger relationships.

Today was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we come together to listen, learn, and support one another. ❤️

❤️ Are you keeping the peace… or just keeping quiet?

Have you ever caught yourself thinking:

💭 “I’m probably overreacting.”
💭 “It’s not that big of a deal.”
💭 “I shouldn’t be upset about this.”
💭 “It’s easier to just let it go.”

There’s actually a name for this pattern: self-gaslighting.

A recent TIME article explored how easily we can fall into the habit of dismissing our own feelings, experiences, and needs.

And here’s why that matters in marriage:

Keeping the peace isn’t the same as building a healthy relationship.

When we constantly convince ourselves that our feelings don’t matter, we miss opportunities for honest conversations, deeper understanding, and real connection.

Healthy marriages aren’t built on pretending everything is fine.

They’re built when BOTH people feel safe enough to be honest, humble enough to listen, and willing to work through the hard things together. ❤️

So here’s a little encouragement today:

You can acknowledge your feelings AND extend grace to your spouse.

You can speak up AND speak with kindness.

You can disagree AND still love each other well.

That’s what healthy communication looks like. And it’s one of the reasons we’re so passionate about equipping couples with tools to build stronger, healthier marriages!
