Shalom,

Story Tour is excited to share a powerful and uplifting story that speaks to the heart of compassion, courage, and the quiet miracles that unfold when kindness is given freely.

Enjoy this Shabbat story, The Rabbi, the Bandit, and the Shabbat Miracle https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/the-rabbi-the-bandit-and-the-shabbat-miracle/

It’s a tale of Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad — the revered ben Ish Chai — and the extraordinary moment when an act of generosity returned years later in the most unexpected way. A debt paid for a stranger… a Shabbat kept in the face of danger… and a bandit who chose mercy because he once received it.

This is a story of how goodness echoes across time, how one moment of integrity can ripple into a miracle, and how Shalom often arrives through the doors we opened long ago.
If you enjoy narratives of faith, history, and human connection, you’ll find this one especially meaningful.

May all your tales end with peace.

The loud argument between two men shattered the morning calm outside the home of Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad, the revered ben Ish Chai. The attendant of

A King, a Woman, a Lion — and the Wisdom That Saves a Home https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/the-king-the-woman-and-the-lion/

In a medieval Jewish tale, a king’s moment of weakness sets off a chain of fear and silence. A married woman escapes his desire through cleverness and courage. Her husband, finding the king’s staff, assumes the worst and withdraws from her completely.

Only when the king speaks in parable — a lion entering a field but never touching its fruit — does the truth surface. The threat was real, but the harm never came. Fear had done what the lion did not.

The couple reunites. Their “land” flourishes again.

A reminder: Sometimes the danger we imagine is greater than the danger that ever occurred. And sometimes peace returns when we dare to speak.

May all your tales end with Shalom (peace)

The Kol Nidre That a Father Finally Heard https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/the-deaf-man-of-the-shul/

Some stories don’t just touch the heart — they enter it.

I recently revisited a Yom Kippur tale that still leaves me breathless: a devoted father, deaf from birth, who came to shul every Shabbos to “listen” to his son, the chazzan, not with his ears, but with his eyes, his soul, and his love.

And then, on the night of Kol Nidre… everything changed.

The son arrived late, wrapped in white like a flame of prayer. His father’s seat was empty. His voice rose, soared, and carried the entire congregation to a place beyond words. When asked what filled his voice with such heaven, he answered with a single tear:

“My father passed away last night. Tonight… was the first time he ever heard me pray.”

A reminder that some prayers are spoken, some are silent — and some are carried on the wings of love.

🕯️ May every prayer be heard. 🕯️ May every heart find healing. 🕯️ May we all be inscribed for sweetness and peace.

I’d love to hear your reflections. What part of this story stayed with you? Which moment touched you most deeply?

The Mother’s Prayer Book and a Boy’s Prayer https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/the-mothers-prayer-book-and-a-boys-prayer/ is a story of return, innocence, and the power of tears that speak louder than words.

In a quiet village beneath ancient hills, a boy discovers his mother’s worn prayer book — and through tears, finds his way back to the faith of his people.

On Yom Kippur, unable to speak the words, he cries out:

“Ribbono shel Olam — Master of the Universe! I do not know how to pray. I do not know what to say. Here is the whole prayer book. Choose the right words Yourself, and place them before You, so that I may one day understand You.”

His broken heart opens the Gates of Mercy, and blessings pour down upon the world.

A Rock and the King’s Greatness https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/a-rock-and-the-kings-greatness/

A villager once threw a stone at a king — not out of rebellion, but out of ignorance. Only when he walked the streets of the kingdom, sweeping his way closer and closer to the palace, did he finally understand the greatness of the one he had wronged.

So it is with us. We stumble because we do not yet see the palace. We rebel because we do not yet feel the majesty. But when we begin to cleanse our ways — the outer habits, the inner thoughts, the courtyard of the heart — awe awakens, and with it, the desire to return.

May this season inscribe you for sweetness, blessing, health, and peace — and may every tale you live end with Shalom.

Please tell us what part of this story speaks to you most. Share your comments and reflections below.

A man sins and does not understand G-d's greatness...if he understood how powerful and awesome the Holy One, blessed be He is...he'd seek forgiveness.

A Rosh Hashanah story: A Prescription for Life https://projectshalom2.org/StoryTour/a-prescription-for-life/

As the Days of Awe approach, we turn to the stories that teach us how a soul survives its darkest hour.

A wise physician was once thrown into a prison as narrow as the grave — shackled, starved, stripped of comfort. Yet his face remained bright, his strength unbroken.

When his loved ones begged him to reveal how he endured such torment, he answered with a teaching for every generation:

Seven “drugs” of the spirit — seven inner medicines that keep the heart alive even in exile:

Faith in the Holy One, blessed be He.
Hope that tomorrow can be different.
Accountability for one’s own missteps.
Patience in the face of decree.
Purpose in suffering as a cleansing of the soul.
Gratitude for what is rather than what is missing.
Trust in redemption that can arrive in the blink of an eye.

A potion not brewed in bottles, but in the heart.

As Rosh Hashanah nears, may these seven medicines strengthen you as they strengthened him.
May you be blessed and sealed for a year of sweetness, success, and peace.

May all your tales end with Shalom.
