Footworks Youth Ballet

Footworks Youth Ballet Footworks Youth Ballet is the non-profit affiliate of Oakley Ballet Center.

Footworks performs two full-length ballets each year: The Nutcracker in December, and a spring production in early June (see our repertoire). Student dancers train at Oakley Ballet Center and are encouraged to take part in Footworks productions to craft their artistry and apply the technique they have learned. They gain experience with being a part of a professional-level production, complete with

costumes, props, sets, lighting and more. Whenever possible, all roles (including principal, soloist and corps roles) are danced by student dancers. Footworks Youth Ballet, Inc.‘s purpose is to provide educational opportunities to young people in the art of ballet. More specifically, the mission of Footworks Youth Ballet is to develop and enhance every student’s love and appreciation for the art of ballet; to do so by offering all students an opportunity to perform in live ballet performances; to provide serious ballet students who aspire to a professional career in dance the opportunity to develop their artistry and refine their ballet technique while performing on stage; to encourage young aspiring choreographers by providing nurturing workshops and choreographic opportunities under the mentorship of dance professionals; to widen life’s opportunities for all students and encourage them to meet life’s challenges and opportunities with confidence and self-esteem developed through the discipline of ballet.

Congratulations to our talented seniors!! After years of hard work, long rehearsals, and many friendships made, they took their final bow with FYB. Even though they’ve graduated, they leave a lasting impact on our community as they’ve inspired others and brought many beautiful performances to stage! 🩷🩰

🌟 Senior Saturday: Bailey 🌟

Bailey is our 4th and final graduating senior this year, and is so excited for her principal and soloist roles as Giselle, 1st Movement Soloist in CS, and the Duck in P&W! Over her 13 years at FYB, she has made so many amazing friends and memories, and danced many memorable roles such as Sugar Plum, Swanilda, and Doe in Snow White. Bailey will be studying Biology at Ventura College this fall, and hopes to continue dancing! She is so grateful for everyone who has helped her to where she is, and we are equally grateful for her and everything she has brought to FYB over the years. Thank you Bailey! We will miss you! 💕

🌟 Senior Saturday: Brie 🌟

After dancing at Footworks for 12 years, Brie is ready to take her final bow as Myrtha in Giselle and 5th Movement soloist in Classical Symphony (among other roles)! In previous years, Brie has loved performing as Clara, Reed Flute soloist, and Arabian pas de deux in the Nutcracker! Over the summer, she will be attending Joffrey Ballet in Chicago and will pursue a BFA of ballet at the University of Utah School of Dance in the fall! Thank you Brie for all of your hard work and commitment to FYB. We will miss you!

Brie will be taking over the FYB account today, so stay tuned as she documents one of the final Saturday rehearsals before the theater! 💕
