First pour! 75 bags of cement unloaded and mixed, 4 truckloads of sand and gravel (200 buckets full) carried to the mixer, countless buckets of water carried from the creek, 125 feet of footings poured and 200 boards unloaded and stacked all in 7 hours by 9 men. Statistics behind hard work and good actions. I am glad the menare here, helping their community, and not in the states.

I think my Mom is smiling down on us today. She left a donation when she passed away and we are starting a school project right next to my house. First we are building two long retaining walls and then we will start landscaping the area. The total project will also have a covered meeting area and two new classrooms.

Took a quick trip over to the village of Cachixla and sold 600 trees in two hours. We sell them 7 for 1 dollar to control the planting. Even though the price is real low people think about how many trees they can really plant. Along the road are trees we distributed three years ago. They are reaching 25 feet tall already.

I like it when I can see the circular systems in life, the dance of give and take we live in.
Salvador cuts and sells lumber from an area I love to hike in. Three times this year he has come to get trees to plant. He knows I don't like to cut trees so he looks for dead or fallen logs. Recently he found this giant covered in brush. We have already cut the wall beams for five homes from the tree. This wood will gift a home for many years before decaying in a new spot. During these years the new replants will grow and reach for the sky.
I don't mind being part of cycles like this.
