Happy National SLP Day to our very own Rachel Hoey and Caitlin McCaslin!

We are so thankful for the incredible care they give to our deaf and hard of hearing kiddos every. single. day.

They do so much more than speech therapy. They celebrate first words, cheer on big milestones, they show up early, stay late, they jump in whenever our classrooms need an extra hand, they wipe boogers! They truly do it all…
Most importantly, they help our kiddos learn to listen and talk with confidence!!

We are so beyond grateful for the heart and dedication they bring to HOPE each and every day!

We’re incredibly honored to be selected as this year’s Women Helping Women Fund grantee!

Please join the Women Helping Women Fund for their annual Give Like a Woman event! A celebration of connection and collective impact. Together, we’ll create lasting change for women and children across Spokane County.

All ticket proceeds fund grants and scholarships supporting women and children in our community.

We are so thankful for partners like Fairwinds Spokane! Their residents came together in such a fun and generous way, raising funds through bingo nights and fitness challenges over the last several months!!!

Support like this truly means the world to us. It’s because of caring partners like Fairwinds that we’re able to continue serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.
Thank you Fairwinds Spokane for helping make our work possible!

During circle time, one of our sweet toddlers was greeting her friends with waves and vocalizations while her Teacher of the Deaf modeled clear spoken language alongside her communication attempts. These everyday interactions are powerful opportunities for language growth.
The Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) strategy “Model Language” helps children who are deaf or hard of hearing build neural connections in the brain, strengthen the auditory feedback loop, and develop receptive and expressive language skills. By consistently hearing meaningful language modeled just above their current level, children gain exposure to new vocabulary, grammar, and spoken language patterns in natural, engaging moments.

Keeping hearing technology safe = keeping sound accessible! Retention wear (like clips, cords, caps, and headbands) helps make sure hearing devices stay on little ears where they belong! These are just a few examples…there are many options to fit each child’s needs:

đź‘‚ Clips: Attach to hair or clothing to help prevent devices from falling
đź‘‚ Cords: Connect devices together or clip to clothing for extra security
đź‘‚ Caps: Help keep devices snug and in place
đź‘‚ Headbands: Great for active little ones and help hold devices comfortably and securely

Consistent device use = consistent access to sound, speech, and language learning!
