Celebrating the small wins. Showing up for yourself and your baby. Asking for help. Learning new ways to cope. Letting go of shame and refusing to let stigma define your story. And recognizing that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

At Maddie’s Place, we care for substance-exposed infants while also supporting the parents and families who love them. Our work is about creating a safe, compassionate space where babies can heal, parents can grow, and families can begin building a healthier future together.

Our FREE closet at Maddie’s Place —Maddie’s Closet— is filled and ready to serve families who have been impacted by the complex fires in Spokane. Clothing (all sizes), diapers, wipes, shoes, toys, and other items you or your family may need — all available at no cost.

Our hope is simple: to come alongside our neighbors in a difficult season, provide a little practical help, and remind families that there is a community around them that cares.

If you or someone you know has been affected, please come by and take what you need🤍

Our hearts are with everyone affected by the devastating Spokane complex fires🤍

As smoke fills our skies and so many in our community face uncertainty, we are holding close those who have lost homes, are displaced, or are simply carrying the weight of these difficult days.

Here at Maddie’s Place, we are grateful to continue our mission, even in the midst of difficult days — both now and ahead. We remain committed to caring for the tiniest among us and walking alongside infants and families who need a safe place, compassionate care, and hope.

We are grateful to be here for our community — even in the heavy moments.

As communities across the Inland Northwest continue to respond to the devastating wildfires affecting our region, Maddie’s Place is opening the doors of Maddie’s Closet, its free community resource center, to individuals and families who have been 
directly impacted or displaced by the Spokane Complex, Kaiser Canyon, Mitre Rock, and other regional fires. 
 
“Our hearts are with every family facing uncertainty, loss, or evacuation during this incredibly difficult time,” Said Shaun Cross, CEO of Maddie’s Place. “While we cannot replace what has been lost, we hope we can ease some of the burden by providing essential items and a welcoming place where people know they are supported.” 
 
Maddie’s Closet was created to help families build stability during and after recovery by providing free clothing, diapers, formula, household goods, furniture, baby equipment, and 
other everyday essentials. During this time of community need, the resource center is expanding access to serve anyone displaced or directly affected by the wildfires. 
Items currently available include: 

    •    Infant, children, and adult clothing 
    •    Diapers and baby wipes 
    •    Infant formula 
    •    Toys and baby supplies 
    •    Household goods and kitchen items 
    •    Other essential family necessities 
 
Maddie’s Closet is located at 1015 E. 9th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99202 and is open Tuesday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with appointments available outside of those regular hours as needed.

At this time, Maddie's Place/Maddie's Closet is only accepting the following donations:
• Diapers
• Baby wipes
• Non perishable, unexpired foods
• Larger baby items, such as car seats and Pack 'n Plays

At this time, we are not able to accept clothing or household items, as our space is currently full.

We have many resources available to share with those in need and encourage you to take other donations to one of the following locations:

Cuddles = a better day🤍

Babies born with prenatal substance exposure can experience withdrawal symptoms that make it difficult to sleep, feed, and regulate their nervous systems. Alongside specialized medical and nursing care, gentle, consistent human touch plays an important role in supporting each baby’s recovery. 

At Maddie’s Place, every member of our care team embraces this approach. Our nurses, infant care specialists, and volunteer cuddlers spend countless hours holding, rocking, soothing, baby wearing, and responding to each baby’s individual needs. These moments of connection aren’t extras—they’re an essential part of how we care for our infants. 

This compassionate, responsive care helps reduce stress, encourages rest, and creates a sense of safety during a critical stage of development. 

At Maddie’s Place, recovery is about more than treating symptoms—it’s about caring for the whole baby. Every cuddle is a small act of compassion and love that fosters healing, connection, and hope.

If you know, you know🍼😅

Working with babies means going through an endless number of pacifiers, and the number in our cupboard is always changing.

Thankfully, we keep a wide variety of pacifier styles on hand to meet each infant’s individual needs—and plenty of backstock for when 2... or 20... mysteriously disappear😂

Different pacifiers can be beneficial for different needs, whether an infant has a high palate, a tongue tie (or repaired tongue tie), a weaker latch, or a stronger latch. Every baby has their own preferences, and we’re prepared to support those needs—even if we’re on a daily pacifier scavenger hunt💙

A tiny reminder: all pacifiers shown are cleaned or replaced according to our nursery policies before being used with an infant.
