In My Father's Kitchen

In My Father's Kitchen Our Vision
A world free from chronic homelessness, where individuals are fed, sheltered in safe housing and free from strongholds.

Our Mission
We feed people spirit, soul and body; using food distribution and supplying material necessities to break down As John and Leigh Ann build relationships with Chronically homeless individuals they identify and meet the unique needs of the homeless people not yet ready to leave the streets and who refuse to stay in emergency shelters. As a result, IMFK provides food and basic necessities

to homeless individuals where they live on the streets, on a consistent and compassionate basis, until the homeless individual is comfortable accepting help and working with community agencies to secure housing.

Today was another incredible day as we helped our friend Steve move into a place he can finally call home. Just look at the smile on his face as he puts the key into his own door. His own keys. His own apartment. His own fresh start.

A special thank you to Shelly Frank Dunham and Saoirse Murphy-Collins, our care managers at In My Father's Kitchen, who walked alongside Steve every step of the way helping him navigate appointments, work through the housing process, and stay encouraged on the journey.

Because of your faithful support, we were also able to bless Steve with cleaning supplies, groceries, and many of the essentials that help transform an apartment into a home.

This is what your generosity makes possible. This is what hope looks like. This is what happens when a community comes together to believe in the dignity and worth of every person.

Today, Steve is no longer living on the streets. Today, he has a home.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us bring hope, dignity, and a new beginning to our neighbors in need. May God bless each and every one of you who make stories like Steve’s possible. ❤️🏠🙏

🎉 Do YOU want to have some Fun today at rhe Grotto 🎉

Get ready for a FUN, joy-filled afternoon of laughter, celebration, community, and purpose!

Join us on Today, May 30, from 12:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. at Assumption Church Basement (The Grotto), 812 N. Salina St., Syracuse, for a special fundraiser and “REVEAL PARTY” benefiting Joseph’s House for Women and In My Father’s Kitchen. ❤️

So here’s the story… while hanging out with John at IMFK, I got a call from my doctor about a blood test that came back “positive for pregnancy.” 🤰😂
Now mind you… I’m in my mid-70s!

After the shock, the laughter, and realizing this was definitely a FALSE positive, we thought… why not turn this hilarious moment into an opportunity to gather friends together and shine a light on the incredible work these two organizations are doing throughout our community?

Come celebrate life, love, laughter, and the power of people coming together to make a difference. There will be fun, fellowship, stories, smiles, FOOD and a chance to learn more about how Joseph’s House for Women and In My Father’s Kitchen are bringing hope and dignity to so many.

Please join us and bring a friend! ❤️

A powerful day with our Hire Ground crew in partnership with Onondaga County and the City of Syracuse - Office of the Mayor. In this video, Kevin and the team were out cleaning along the Route 81 off-ramp at Bear Street proving that dignity and purpose can change lives.

Hire Ground is more than a work program. It’s an alternative to panhandling. It’s an opportunity for individuals experiencing homelessness to work with dignity instead of standing on a corner asking for help.

But the real work goes deeper. During these five-hour encounters, our team and case managers walk alongside individuals helping them navigate housing, connect with providers, access resources, and move from brokenness toward wholeness.

At Hire Ground, no one is invisible. Every person deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and given an opportunity for hope.

A simple request for bottled water turned into something much deeper today.

Water arrived at IMFK in loving memory of our dear friend, Christopher Jarvis, who passed away in November of 2023. The Jarvis-Felicia family generously purchased water that will be handed out on the streets of Central New York over the next couple of weeks in honor of Chris’s life and memory.

Chris may have left this side of eternity, but we know he’s gone fishing on the other side. One day we’ll see him again. Until then, every bottle of water shared with someone who is thirsty becomes a reminder that his life still carries impact, kindness, and compassion.

To the Gina Jarvis-filicia family thank you for thinking of those on the streets while honoring Chris in such a meaningful way. Your generosity will bring refreshment, dignity, and love to many who feel unseen.

Christopher Jarvis, you are remembered and You Are Not Invisible ❤️

Join us next Wednesday, June 3rd at 330pm at Farone & Sons Funeral Home on Park Street, as we gather together for a Celebration of Life in honor of our dear friend, Patrick Luis, affectionately known as “Cyrus.”

We will come together to remember and celebrate his life through tributes, prayer, scripture readings, and maybe even a song or two as we honor the impact he made on so many hearts.

Cyrus, you were never invisible. You were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed. Though you are no longer with us, your memory will forever remain in our hearts.

We invite all who knew and loved him to come celebrate his life with us.

I’m excited to share the first two Facilitator Guides for Restore Outreach to Women. These lesson handbooks were created to help women find healing, restoration, and hope through conversation, worksheets, reflection, and art therapy.

My heart behind these guides is simple: to create safe spaces where women feel seen, valued, and encouraged as they work through life’s challenges and move toward wholeness.

Healing is possible, and every woman deserves the opportunity to grow, heal, and rediscover her purpose.

33 years ago this Memorial Weekend, my life was forever changed when I encountered Jesus. In the middle of my brokenness, God met me with grace, hope, and purpose.

If you’re struggling today, please know there is hope, there is purpose, and you don’t have to walk alone.

Another great Friday down at In My Father's Kitchen storefront from 12–2, where our friends can stop in, our supporters can drop off donations, purchase some of our products, and most importantly, sit down and have meaningful conversations with those we are supporting throughout our community.

I love seeing our sous chefs engage with friends who often feel invisible. Through simple acts of kindness, conversation, coffee, and snacks, we get to show dignity, value, and compassion while listening to their stories and simply doing life together. These moments remind us that community is built through relationship, not just service.

Thank you to every single person who continues to support the work we do at In My Father's Kitchen. Your generosity helps create a space where hope, encouragement, and human connection are shared every Friday.

As the temperatures rise, so does the need for bottled water for our friends living outdoors throughout our city. In My Father's Kitchen is currently in need of donations of bottled water to help us continue reaching those experiencing homelessness with dignity, compassion, and care.

Water donations can be dropped off this Friday at 501 Hawley Ave between the hours of 12 PM and 2 PM. Every case donated helps bring relief, hydration, and hope to someone who may be struggling in the heat.

Thank you to this amazing community for always stepping up and helping us serve those who are often forgotten. Together, we continue to make a difference one bottle, one conversation, and one act of love at a time.
