The Mansion on James / George & Rebecca Barnes Foundation The Foundation’s goal is to preserve the home and educate the general public about its historical significance.

The Mansion is run by the George & Rebecca Barnes Foundation, a non-profit organization housed in The Mansion and dedicated to preserving the building and its history. The George & Rebecca Barnes Foundation is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and maintenance of The Mansion on James at 930 James St., the original home of George and Rebecca Barnes. George and Rebecca Barnes built the home

in 1853 and it became the center for Abolitionist meetings. Over the years it was home to Judge Hiscock and his family, visited by President Taft, was the site of LeMoyne College’s first classes, and was home to the Corinthian Club, a popular women’s organization. The Mansion is listed on the National Parks Underground Railroad Network. Volunteer or take an historical tour of The Mansion or even rent some of its rooms for private events.
