NOFA-NY is an organization of farmers, gardeners, and consumers working together to create a sustainable regional food system which is ecologically sound and economically viable. Through demonstration, educational opportunities, and advocacy work, we promote land stewardship, organic food production, and local marketing. Since 1983, NOFA-NY has been bringing consumer and farmer closer together to

make high quality food available to all people. Today, we are New York State’s leading organization providing effective programs and services that promote sustainable, local, organic food and farming. NOFA-NY is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is elected by our membership. NOFA-NY is one of seven northeastern state organizations that work together under the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) umbrella. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

The Bill (S.7638B / A.8091B) just passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the New York State legislature!! At a time when New York farms are facing rising costs, climate pressures, supply chain instability, and the loss of support from federal programs, this bill opens new pathways for local producers to access stable institutional markets in their own communities. New York can’t afford to award contracts to the lowest bidder at the expense of farmers and workers in our communities. We are thrilled to see this legislation headed back to Governor Kathy Hochul's desk.

NOFA-NY is partnering with the New York Soil Health Challenge to recruit organic farms for this statewide project. We're looking for farmers who want to learn more about their soil health, track changes over time, and see how their results compare with similar farming systems across New York.

Participants receive free soil health testing and analysis for three fields, personalized benchmarking reports, and opportunities to learn from fellow farmers facing similar challenges.

The more organic farms that participate, the stronger our understanding of soil health in organic systems will be.

Farmers have already been adapting to climate change by investing in soil health, crop diversification, and building resilience into their operations.

Their efforts rely on strong federal leadership, reliable science, and policies that recognize the urgency of the climate crisis.

Instead, the EPA’s repeal of key climate protections ignores established science and removes critical safeguards at a time when farmers need them the most.

🌳 Join NOFA-NY and Mid Hudson CRAFT at Black Creek Farm for an educational tour and the opportunity to learn from and build community with local farmers!

🌳 The tour will focus on our organic nursery production and our syntropic systems that have been planted at the farm to produce vegetables, nursery crops, persimmons, pawpaws, hazelnuts, apples, grapes, and other crops. We will cover the design and implementation of the syntropic approach and talk about management. We will then work together to put it into practice by planting a tree row.
