Earlier this week, we got to spend time with some wonderful people at Yards Grille in Fayetteville. Robin Cortese of Visit Syracuse and Belleza Styling hosted an easygoing clothing swap, complete with a fantastic view and even better company.

All remaining clothing from the swap was donated to Vera House to support our work and raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence in our community.

We’re grateful to Julianna Bullis for generously sharing this space and helping make the gathering feel so welcoming. We’re so lucky to be a part of this incredible community. 💜

A few weekends ago, our friends at SOMA Physical Therapy & Wellness rolled out the mats and opened their doors for a Pilates class and women-owned vendor market in support of Vera House. Together, this community raised a total of $1,220.40.

We are so grateful to Dr. Rachel Fischer, PT, DPT, and the SOMA team for hosting and for leading such a creative way to give back. Thank you to all of the businesses that joined us, to those who showed up for class or the market, and to everyone who helped spread the word. Your generosity helps fund Vera House services for survivors and prevention work here in CNY.

Events like this show what is possible when local businesses and neighbors come together. Our immense thanks to SOMA Physical Therapy & Wellness, the Charmory 315, Joy’s Sourdough, Wing and Stone Jewelry, Stupendous Love / Heather Wood, Soul Society, Wellness by Jess, Primal Chiropractic, Berry Farm & Gardens, Simply Simmered, our chair massage partners, and Apricot Lane Boutique. 💜

Join us for our next Coffee with Vera House on Wednesday, June 17, from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at The Common - Lounge & Events in Camillus. ☕

Coffee with Vera House is a casual way to connect with our team, learn more about the services and support we provide, ask questions, and get to know the people behind our mission.

Each meet-up is held at a different local business, so you can discover new spots, support local owners, and connect with neighbors across Central New York.

We’ll have coffee, light snacks, and information about ways to get involved, whether you’re interested in volunteering, supporting survivors, or simply learning more about our work.

Whether you stop by for a few minutes or stay for the full hour, we’d love to see you, share a cup of coffee, and help you start your day.

We are so grateful for a recent gift that’s already making a difference for survivors and their families that we serve. 💜

Our team member, Donavan Gilbert, helped coordinate a generous book collection led by retired Gillette Road Middle School teacher Kelly Tackley and supported by Gillette teachers. We were also honored to receive a donation of books from Onondaga County Public Libraries. Together, these gifts helped us create and expand a small library for adults and children staying in our shelter and utilizing our services.

A good book can offer a welcome escape and a chance to simply be somewhere else for a little while during a difficult time. These donations are helping create those moments every day.

Thank you to Donavan, Kelly, the Gillette Road Middle School community, and Onondaga County Public Libraries for supporting survivors in such a thoughtful and meaningful way.

If you'd like to support survivors and families in our community, there are many ways to get involved, including volunteering, making an in-kind donation, or giving financially. Learn more at verahouse.org/donate.

A huge thank you to the incredible team of Central New York KeyBank employees for spending their afternoon volunteering with us earlier this week.

Together, they helped organize donations including blankets, stuffed animals, hygiene items, and other essentials that help bring comfort and support to survivors and their families. Their work will make these items more accessible to our staff so they can quickly connect community members with the resources they need.

We are so grateful for partners like KeyBank who take the time to help out and make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us. 💜
