🌎🍎 FOUNDATION $500 for WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY! 🍎🌎
What better way to celebrate World Teachers’ Day than by sending a little extra love (and $500! 💵) to one of our wonderful DD2 staff members?!
Eddie Crosby, our Edmentum representative, Dorchester County Councilman AND former DD2 assistant principal, stopped by the Spann Education Center to help us pick an employee who will receive this Foundation $500 from our generous sponsor, Edmentum.

We had the opportunity to check out Dr. Aquino’s classroom and his outdoor learning space this week. He was a recipient of our We Are Boeing SC Innovation grant two years in a row! He truly embodies the type of educator that cares about his students’ engagement and learning. He is creative and is using the tools that the Educational Foundation grants allowed him to purchase to help our students grow their knowledge creatively. Way to go, River Oaks Middle!

Last week, the Dorchester Two Educational Foundation had the pleasure of bringing together some of the people who make partnership in DD2 so meaningful at our annual VIP Partner Reception.
We are grateful to our DD2 district leadership, Board of Trustees, Educational Foundation Board members, and annual business and industry partners who joined us for an evening of conversation and connection.
One of the most important roles of the Foundation is serving as a bridge between our schools and our community. We want our partners to know the people leading our schools, understand the opportunities and needs within DD2, and have meaningful ways to connect their businesses, resources, and expertise with our students and educators.
To our annual partners: thank you for investing in more than programs. You are investing in relationships and opportunities for the future of our community. We are proud to help make those connections happen.
And a special thank you to HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital for once again providing such a wonderful space for us to gather and connect.

🍦 Here’s the scoop…we have some pretty SWEET community partners! 🍦

Yesterday, Michelle, one of the wonderful owners of Bruster’s of Summerville, stopped by the District Office to serve up scoops of ice cream to our DDTwo principals. And because they’re just that sweet, they didn’t stop there—they treated our District Office support staff to ice cream, too! 🍨

We LOVE partnerships that bring our community and schools together in creative ways! 😉 We’re excited for our schools to explore some fun opportunities with Bruster’s that can help raise extra funds to support our students.

📚🧜‍♀️ Innovation + Imagination + STEM in Action! 🚣‍♀️🔬

Last week, we had the BEST time visiting Mrs. Tallent’s 4th-grade class at Newington Elementary School and seeing one of our 2026 Boeing Innovation Grants come to life!
Mrs. Tallent was one of this year’s grant recipients, receiving funding for her “How to Catch a…” series where she takes a creative approach that uses books to launch hands-on science lessons while giving students opportunities to practice teamwork and problem-solving. 💡
In this lesson, inspired by How to Catch a Mermaid, students were given a set of basic supplies and a challenge to design and build a raft for their mermaid that could stay afloat in the waves! 🚣
Students put their creations in the water, watched what happened, talked about what worked (and what didn’t!), and connected their designs to the science behind them.
We LOVED watching the excitement as each group tested its creation. There was brainstorming, experimenting, problem-solving, teamwork, and plenty of cheering each other on.
✨ This is what engagement looks like. ✨ This is what innovation in the classroom looks like. ✨ And this is what our partnerships make possible.
A huge thank you to We Are Boeing SC for helping us give DD2 educators like Mrs. Tallent the resources to turn creative ideas into meaningful learning experiences for their students! 💙
