The Summerville Italian Feast Meatball 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run is back for 2026 with a BRAND-NEW LOCATION! 🎉

🌳 This year, we’re heading to Pine Trace Park!

❤️ Proceeds from the race benefit the Dorchester Two Educational Foundation, supporting students and schools throughout Dorchester School District Two!

💙 Swag is coming, DD2!

Yesterday was a BIG sorting day at the Foundation! With the help of two wonderful volunteers (thank you Jenna & Cameron),we successfully sorted…

👕 800 T-shirts
💗 400 kangaroo-pocket sweatshirts
📦 And approximately 4,000 piles of shirts. (Okay, that last one may be an exaggeration. 😂)

These goodies are headed to our DD2 employees who participate in the Foundation’s Employee Giving Campaign, a program for staff who choose to give back and help us continue supporting students and educators across the district.

🚚 Swag will begin heading out to schools early next week!

And then comes the really fun part…

📅 Our first FOUNDATION FRIDAY of the school year is September 4!

We can’t wait to see everyone sporting their Foundation gear! When you wear yours, snap a picture, tag us, and show us that the Foundation’s got your back! 💗

🎉 Our first Foundation $500 giveaway of the new school year is here!

What better way to celebrate the first day back for our students than by surprising an incredible educator? Congratulations to Chelsea Bissell-Sherill, 6th Grade Counselor at Alston Middle School, for being our very first Foundation $500 recipient of the school year! 💛

A huge thank you to Thompson Construction Group Inc. for sponsoring this month's Foundation $500 and helping us recognize the educators who make a difference in the lives of our students every single day.

We hope this surprise brings a little extra joy to the start of a brand-new school year. Thank you, Chelsea, for all you do to support our Alston Tigers!

District Teacher of the Year, Kim Bender, joined us tonight at the Summerville Chamber of Commerce’s Nonprofit focused Business After Hours. We got to share our mission of raising funds to give resources to our DD2 students and teachers with the community in a room full of our local nonprofit friends.

💙 MISSION MONDAY | Investing in Our Newest Educators 💙

A new school year brings new faces and new opportunities to make an impact. Over the past two weeks, we had the opportunity to meet our newly hired teachers, share a little about the work of the Foundation, and put a check directly into the hands of each new Induction teacher who joined Dorchester School District Two ! 🎉

Altogether, the Foundation invested more than $14,000 in this initiative to help our new teachers as they prepare to welcome students into their classrooms. We hope these funds help our newest educators purchase something they need, something their students will love, or simply make the start of their DD2 journey a little easier.

🌟 Behind every great first-year teacher is a mentor who chooses to invest their time and knowledge.
Today, mentor teachers from across Dorchester School District Two came together to brainstorm, collaborate, and strengthen the support they provide to our induction teachers. Through shared ideas and meaningful conversations, they're helping ensure our newest educators feel welcomed and connected as they begin their journey in DD2.

This morning at Oakbrook Elementary, we spotted a special mother-daughter team spending part of their summer getting classrooms ready for another year of learning. 🍎

💙 Dr. D, a longtime DD2 teacher and principal who has returned to the classroom, and her daughter, Rebekah, a special education teacher at Oakbrook, were already hard at work organizing, decorating, and preparing spaces where students will soon feel welcomed, encouraged, and loved. Dr. D also has another daughter who is one of the counselors for the Oakie Bears! It was such a beautiful reminder that teaching is a calling that often spans generations.

✨ We know there are so many families throughout DD2 with multiple educators, staff members, or even generations who have dedicated their lives to our students.

Watching new spaces come to life this Summer makes us so happy! Through a grant from the Bosch Community Fund in Bosch USA sites, we were able to provide a greenhouse for the culinary programs at Summerville High School and Fort Dorchester High School - Official Site. We can't wait to see what our future chefs grow and prepare in these!
