ABOUT US
Juvenile Diabetes Good Care Support is a non-profit organization that is working to enhance the lives of children and young adults diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We established the organization after Karlie, our granddaughter, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on February 25, 2020, at the tender age of eighteen-months. After enduring several days of symptoms we did not underst
and, and several trips to the hospital and tests, doctors were finally able to determine that our Karlie had type 1 diabetes. It was because of this ordeal we decided to help others who may endure or may have endured the same thing. Individuals with type 1 diabetes are dependent upon insulin their entire lives. Our primary goal is to provide financial and social assistance to families who may not be financially sound and lack the necessary resources to face the challenges that the disease brings. To that end, our outreach efforts will include:
• Providing financial assistance for insulin, glucose monitors, insulin pumps, and other supplies.
• Organizing and sponsoring “Family Fun Day” events to give families a reprieve from the rigors of type 1 diabetes. Meeting others who are struggling with these issues may be supportive.
• Educating our communities, schools, local businesses, and churches about type 1 diabetes
• Engaging in disaster relief, as often, individuals with type 1 diabetes are severely impacted during a disaster.
• Fund-raising for research efforts to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.
• College scholarships for type 1 diabetic students, as well as support for the challenges they may face with the disease, as they attempt to further their education. Until type 1 diabetes is eradicated, we will work to help those impacted by this disease have a productive and fulfilling life—just as our little Karlie has!
