Ann Raymond is a cellist, educator, wife and mother who has recently retired after 32 years of directing orchestras in the public school setting. She began her career with Berkeley County Schools as their third orchestra director in 1998. During her time with Berkeley County Schools she created the Strings curriculum for Berkeley Center for the Arts. Prior to this, she worked for Robinson County Schools in North Carolina for four years as a choir director and orchestra director. Mrs. Raymond studied at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education K- 12. She studied cello with Dr. Louis Blackburn, Dr. Suzan Tefley and violin with Dr. Elizabeth Reed Smith. In addition, she has a Masters in Creatives Arts in Learning from Lesley University, Chambers, MA and a Masters in Administration from Charleston Southern University, SC. She has performed in various groups and orchestras including the Fayetteville Symphony, Calistro String Quartet, Cello Amore, Avalon Duo, Southcoast Symphony and various chamber groups. In addition, Mrs. Raymond runs a private studio from home. During Mrs. Raymond's career her orchestras have received Superior and Excellent ratings at SC Music Educators Association events and various musical festivals. Her students have been accepted into SC Region, SC All State, Berkeley County Schools All County Orchestra , Governor's Schools of the Arts and College music programs across the nation.
