What is the “Summer Slide”? ☀️📚

The “summer slide” refers to the learning loss many students experience during summer break when they aren’t regularly engaged in reading, math, or other educational activities.
Research shows that students can lose up to 20% of their school-year reading gains during the summer if learning stops altogether.

The good news? There are great programs that help students stay engaged and keep learning all summer long! Visit your local library to learn more about their summer reading programs.

The ATI Foundation believes strong communities are built by people willing to step up and help.

This month, ATI employees from the Contracts and Procurement team volunteered at Lowcountry Orphan Relief, sorting donations that will go directly to children in need.

Every box unpacked. Every pair of shoes sorted. Every item checked with care.

It all adds up to something bigger.

Children deserve clothing and shoes that are clean, comfortable, and give them confidence. Our team was proud to be part of making that happen.

This Memorial Day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Their courage and commitment continue to inspire the values of service, responsibility, and community. As we honor their legacy, we remain grateful for those who serve and for the freedoms their sacrifice protects.

1,471 snack bags packed with purpose.

The ATI Foundation is proud to recognize Jeanie Booher, Diana Kokinda, and the incredible team members who came together to assemble snack bags for students at Deer Park Middle School and Sedgefield Middle School during testing week.

Every snack bag was a reminder to students that their community is behind them.

Testing days can be long and stressful. Having a small selection of food and a little encouragement helped students stay focused, manage hunger, and put forward their best effort.

Strong communities support students when it matters most. We are proud to be part of that effort.

One blood donation can save multiple lives.

On May 27, the ATI Foundation is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive at the ATI office in Summerville.

Giving blood takes about an hour. The impact lasts much longer.

The future workforce is not waiting around. Neither are these students.

The ATI Foundation partnered with DIG SOUTH in support of their program, Accelerating Career Readiness (ACR), helping high school and technical college students move beyond the classroom and into real world innovation. Students are building skills in technology, entrepreneurship, communication, and leadership while connecting directly with mentors, founders, and employers.

And the impact keeps growing.

ACR is becoming more than a curriculum. It is becoming a launchpad. Students are building confidence, expanding networks, and seeing tangible career pathways they may never have imagined before.

On June 11, students will take the stage at the DIG SOUTH Tech Summit to pitch newly created products and services in front of entrepreneurs, executives, and innovators from across the Southeast.

Then on June 12, they will connect directly with companies and speakers attending the Summit, opening doors to future careers and opportunities.

This is what happens when education meets action.
