School's Out! Looking for ways to make a difference, learn new skills, and meet new people this summer?

YVC is a great service-learning non-profit that serves youth aged 11-18 in the Shenandoah Valley. Based in Staunton, we offer volunteer opportunities around the Valley in areas such as environment, community, education, healthy lifestyles, STEM, arts and culture, and more. It is free to participate, one time or multiple times, and is a great resume booster.

Art for the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter

Our volunteers gathered last evening to learn about the new animal shelter in Verona, how animal shelters help our community, and how they as individuals can help shelters -- in addition to spending an hour painting and drawing adoptable animals!

Volunteer Opportunities for Ages 11-18 in the Shenandoah Valley

Youth Volunteer Corps is a free program hosted through the Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA, that aims to engage youth in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring a lifetime ethic of service.

To participate, simply fill out a one-time volunteer form for us (located on our Google Sites linked in our bio), then sign up for any project you're interested in using the links also found on our website.

This Weekend: Two Tree Planting Opportunities!

Saturday, March 28th, 3-5p

Sunday, March 29th, 4-6p

Join us at the new YMCA property to plant trees, both large and small, along Lewis Creek either or both days. For ages 11-18, though for this project only other family members are welcome to stay and help, too. Emphasis is put on student leadership, encouraging the youth to lead once basic instruction is given. Emphasis is also put on education, teaching techniques and tips about best tree planting practices.

9 trees planted today! Shout out to our volunteers who learned new skills on the job and performed high-quality hole digging.
