Backpack Buddies - Hobgood A Bible Study felt a call to help local children who faced food insecurity, thus Backpack Buddies!

Well, we have closed the books on our first year of Backpack Buddies! We were honored to be able to serve 14 students each week at Hobgood Charter School. The generosity of our neighbors and businesses made it possible to provide the students a gallon ziplock bag of food to slip into their Backpack each Friday. They received milk, juice, fruit, a microwave meal, and a note of encouragement each week. Other items included cereal, peanut butter, nabs, cookies, and pop tarts to name a few. We will beginning accepting cash donations made payable to Hobgood Methodist Church now for next year. We will accept food donations in August (more on that later). If you are interested in packing one week, let us know.

As the school year is drawing to and end, we will send double bags home the last week. I was thinking of packing them in...

As the school year is drawing to and end, we will send double bags home the last week. I was thinking of packing them in cute Natural Life bags that are currently on sale for $2 each. Thoughts? I need to act fast.

Backpack Buddy packers, we have added 2 children for a total of 14. So beginning March 4, we will need to pack 14 bags each week.

Good morning Ladies! I have confirmed a date with Camp Don Lee for a women's retreat and Bible Study and now have to confirm our numbers. The date is March 13-15. We would arrive Friday evening and leave Sunday after breakfast. We will be studying about the Holy Spirit in Margaret Feinberg's study, The God You Need to Know. Spread the word and let me know ASAP if you want to go. The total cost should be about $200 including the 2 night stay, 4 meals, and the study guides. Our cabin is on the Neuse River, has bunk beds and is climate controlled.

Happy New Year, friends! We have been serving 12 students at Hobgood Charter School each week since school began in August. Thanks to generous donations from so many, we were able to add a bit extra during Christmas Break. Now it is time to start packing again. ❤️ We have a volunteer for the week of January 7, but are looking to get volunteers signed up through March. Let us know if there is a week you could pack the bags. We have a good supply of Chef boyardee and pop tarts at the moment, but are in need of shelf stable milk and juice. Thanks for your generous spirit!

Excited to say we will have a presence at the Hobgood Cotton Festival this Saturday! We will have a table to accept donations and let people know about our mission. Let me know if anyone would be willing to man the table for an hour and which time would work for you. Rhonda will be setting up the table around 9am. We will pack around 3. We are blessed to say we have food for the next 2 weeks! God is so good! We even have a few Halloween treats. Our supply of ziplock bags will last through Christmas!

Come see us at the Hobgood Cotton Festival! We will be collecting individually packaged, shelf stable foods for our Backpacks as well as monetary donations. Be a part of love in action! ❤️
