Food equity means more than making food affordable—it means making it accessible.

For many older adults, challenges like limited mobility, lack of transportation, and social isolation can make accessing healthy food incredibly difficult. That’s why partnerships matter.

Through collaborations with organizations like Somerville Housing Authority, we deliver Just Eats boxes directly to seniors where they live—bringing not only fresh, nutritious food, but also dignity, reassurance, and support.

Every donation helps power the trucks, cold storage, and community coordination needed to get healthy food to our neighbors who need it most.

As a member of our Logistics Team, Christian is part of the heartbeat of our mission that ensures the communities we serve have consistent access to good food that not only feeds their body, but nourishes their soul.

Christian said it best:

Good music, great food, and an amazing community showing up for a vital cause! 🎶🦞

We had an incredible time at the Crawfish Boil hosted by John Femino and friends at this year's Medford Porchfest. It was their fifth year sponsoring Food For Free, and we are so honored and grateful for their ongoing generosity and support.

A big round of applause to .local.talent for keeping us entertained with great music all afternoon.

Last week was a powerful reminder of how immediate food recovery can be, as we responded to sudden donation offers in real-time. 💚

During commencement season at Harvard University, Food For Free recovered more than 200 leftover meals that would have otherwise gone to waste. We also stepped in to recover food from Clover Food Lab as they closed their doors, making sure as much food as possible could still nourish our community.

All of this food was picked up and delivered to our partner, Grant Manor, in a single day — turning potential food waste into immediate support for neighbors who need it.

That’s the power of direct impact: fresh, prepared meals and healthy groceries moving quickly from surplus to community tables, reducing waste while providing needed support in real time.

Good food should go to people, not landfills. 🍽️♻️
