Green Streets Initiative helps people shift trips to healthier, more affordable, more fun alternatives — and measures the impact, trip by trip, community by community Shift Your Summer is an 8-week active transportation challenge, open to anyone in Massachusetts, that encourages people to walk, bike, and ride transit all summer long. A lot happening in Greater Boston over the next few days — here are four ways to get out and build community this week.

Thursday, join the Vigil Honoring the Life of Louisa Gag at City Hall Plaza. Friday, the Water Transportation Fair comes to Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park. Saturday brings Mattapan on Wheels (plus three more rides that day) and Landry's Hood Park Block Party in Charlestown — we'll be there, come say hi.

Massachusetts has some incredible trails — and this summer, exploring them comes with something extra.

The MassTrails 10 is a curated set of ten shared-use trails across the state, selected by MassDOT and DCR. The Battle Road Trail, the Shining Sea Bikeway, and eight more worth the trip.

Through August 15, complete any of them as a Roam in the Shift app and you'll earn entries toward a Segway e-bike and more than $5,000 in prizes. Hit all ten and you'll unlock the Trail Master badge — plus 50 bonus entries.

Open Shift, find the MassTrails 10 collection, and get out there. See you on the trail.
