The Parenting Journey

The Parenting Journey Unleashing the unique potential within each family
Parents know what’s best for their families.

We’re here to provide you the tools to help them along their journey. Parenting Journey’s approach is based on the family systems principle – that people do not exist in isolation. They live in families (however defined) and gain important strengths from these relationships. Through recognizing and harnessing families’ strengths, our programs create changes that benefit all members, both individua

lly and as a family. We believe that…
- All parents want to be good parents.
- The best way to raise hope is to start by identifying a parent’s strengths and building from there.
- Any individual affects and is affected by other family members. We do not live in isolation.
- Parents need an experience of feeling nurtured before they can nurture their children.
- It is important to incorporate thinking as a step between feelings and actions to promote appropriate responses.
- Effective learning comes first through feelings and then through thinking.
- Effective parenting is influenced by one’s past, by the whole family, and by the cultural, social, and economic circumstances in which families live. Parenting Journey offers powerful and effective programs that build on these beliefs to give parents the skills and confidence they need to create a strong family.

Research shows that compassion fatigue and burnout are real risks for those in helping professions.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let's apply what we know: boundaries protect us, peer support sustains us, and our own mental wellness enables us to serve families effectively.

Everyone's health matters. 💚

Today is National Parenting Education Day.

Parenting doesn’t come with instructions and it was never meant to be done alone.

Every day, facilitators create space where families can reflect, connect, and try something new. Walking alongside parents as they discover what works for their family.

That’s the power of parenting education.

We are starting the year strong.

In January, we welcomed 21 newly graduated facilitators into the Parenting Journey community from 10 different organizations.

Thank you to the facilitators who showed up each day with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to learn together.
Thank you to the organizations that made space for professionals to engage with Parenting Journey curricula.
And thank you to our faculty for bringing care, presence, and commitment to every day of training.

We are grateful to be growing together. 💛
