The Somerville Youth and Recreation Foundation (SYRF) lost a good friend a few weeks ago. His name was Paul PK Kennedy. He was instrumental in helping the SYRF in all of our various fundraising. He loved the Children of Somerville and was there for us whenever we called upon him. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

SOMERVILLE – Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced that the City’s annual Shape-Up Somerville Kick-Off and Somerville Recreation 5K Road Race will be held on Sunday morning, April 24th, starting and ending at the Somerville High School concourse, 93 Highland Avenue. The day will begin with a 1-mile children’s “Fun Run” at 10:30 a.m., followed by a 5K adult race & walk at 11:00 a.m. Registration is open to all at a price of $5 for youth under age 10 and $25 for adults. Price includes a commemorative T-Shirt, race medal, refreshments and a celebration immediately following the adult race. A celebration will be held for any runners at Casey’s, located at 173 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145.
