Beautiful fall day at the garden!
🍂We prepped a bed for garlic planting.
☀️Ran a community dye pot.
🐝Invited a community group to forage dye plants.
🌿Gleaned herbs before the frost.
🌶️Wrapped peppers, herbs and took out water hoses.
🧹 Raked/swept a lot of leaves for the composter and mulch on beds.
We also hosted science writer and author of “Leaving the Ocean was a Mistake”, Cara Giaimo in a fun writing workshop called “Writing Creaturely Advice”.
Birds in the garden: a juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, kinglets, yellow rumpled warblers and a few other unidentified warblers gleaning insects and eating seeds.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out in the garden, hosted open hours and to Cara for the great workshop.
