Celebrate DAF Day this Thursday, October 8 by making a gift to Bridges Homeward through your donor-advised fund! đź’™

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account you can use to make gifts to the causes you care about. Your generosity helps build stronger futures for youth in foster care, youth transitioning out of foster care, individuals with developmental disabilities, and families across Massachusetts.

You can also name Bridges Homeward as a beneficiary of your DAF to create a lasting legacy.

We are thrilled to announce that for the third year in a row, we are hosting the Cambridge Makes Comics camp! 🎨✨

This free workshop series is open exclusively to foster and adopted youth ages 8–18 in Massachusetts. Led by cartoonist and educator Cara Bean, participants will dive into the craft of comics, mindful drawing, and storytelling.

All skill levels are welcome—just bring an open mind and express yourself creatively! Plus, all drawing materials and graphic novels will be provided and are yours to keep!

📅 The Schedule (Saturdays, 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM):
- Oct 24: Mindful Drawing
- Oct 31: Spooky Doodling & Trunk or Treat
- Nov 14: Storytelling with Guest Artist Damian Alexander
- Nov 21: Comics Collaboration 🎨
(Attendance at all four sessions is encouraged to complete a final comic project, but not required!)

For Parents & Guardians:
While youth are creating downstairs, parents and guardians are welcome to join us upstairs for support and training sessions hosted by Bridges Homeward.

Every year, young adults aging out of foster care are left asking a question no one should have to face alone: where do I go now? Without the proper support, up to 46% of them experience homelessness by age 26.

Through YASL, we connect young adults transitioning out of foster care with safe, stable housing and the support they need to build a stronger future.

Right now, we're facing an urgent need for housing. We're looking for apartments, homes, and units of all kinds: landlords with a vacancy, property managers or real estate professionals who hear about openings first, developers looking to make a lasting community impact, or simply someone with a network who can pass this along.

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our 2026 Annual Impact Event last Thursday! It was an inspiring evening filled with powerful client stories, deep dives into our programs, and meaningful connections between staff, partners, and community members.
 
Special thanks to our incredible keynote speaker, Nageeb Sumar, and Denise Jillson for moderating an insightful panel discussion with our Young Adult Supportive Living Program client, property owner, and program director.
 
We also want to extend a huge thank you to the Cambridge Public Library for generously letting us use their wonderful space for this event!
