Boston’s , July 11, 1982: chants of “Italia! Italia! Italia!” bounced off buildings, as ecstatic fans filled . 3,000 miles away, in Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Italy had beaten West Germany 3-1, to win the World Cup Tournament. Italy’s past wins were long in the rear-view mirror, back in 1934 and then in 1938.

In the historically neighborhood beloved by all of Boston, cheers rang out in front of , while loyal soccer followers crowded the entrance to .
